Reminder: outstanding PRODs and AfDs/MfDs etc
This will save me having to look through "My Contributions"! (NB all times UTC)
Please note that this is not always totally up-to-date, I update it as and when I get the chance!

- Note: Contested PROD indicates that I am considering taking to Articles for deletion if further searches do not reveal reliable independent sources which give significant coverage showing the notability of the subject. See also User:Phantomsteve/Contested PRODs
If you see a large number of PRODs in a short time, that means that I am looking at some of the articles which have not been edited for years - trying to find at least one source (or add a new source); if there are none that I can find, I'm proposing it for deletion - proposing deletion is my last resort, I much prefer to find a source and keep the article, and if you look at my Contributions in article space, you will see that I have as often found a source as not!

Mannargudi Sambasiva Bhagavatar
Hello Editor, I have submitted an article with the title "Mannargudi Sambasiva Bhagavatar".The article has been deleted and I want to recreate it with different content with the same title. How do i do this as the article is already deleted. Please give me the steps to proceed further.
Thanks, Viji683 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Viji683 (talk • contribs) 17:57, 14 August 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Viji683, thanks for contacting me. If you think the article is ready, you can move your draft to Mannargudi Sambasiva Bhagavatar. However, the draft still looks to me (at a very quick glance) to be a close paraphrase to the article at The Hindu here. You should consider re-writing it all in your own words, without copying sections nearly verbatim from the newspaper article. Otherwise, it might be considered for deletion again. The article on Wikipedia would need to clearly shows that he meets the notability criteria for musicians and the general notability guidelines. PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 13:59, 15 August 2012 (UTC)
Ludwig Hupfeld
Hey Phantomsteve, I just thought I'd let you know that I saw your article Ludwig Hupfeld in the New Articles list-- You did an excellent job with including references and citations. However, I noticed there are some holes that may need filling: the article does not contain in-line citations, and so doesn't follow Wikipedia style guidelines. It would be great if you could also improve the related article Player piano.
It's always nice to see users contributing to make Wikipedia better! Amy Z (talk) 18:18, 14 August 2012 (UTC)
- I came across the article as a disamb link to the German article - I machine-translated-and-tidied-up - I don't read German myself (well, the odd word maybe!) and so I could not really check the source provided to find in-line citations. I also know nothing about the other article, and don't really have time to look into it properly! I came across the other article while looking at other stuff, and thought I could get a start-article created, but it needs someone who both knows German, and who knows the subject, to actually work on it further. Thanks for your nice comments, though. As a longer-term editor/contributor -just over 7 years! - I don't very often get compliments! PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 13:52, 15 August 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Phantomsteve,
- Wow, 7 years is a long time to be editing Wikipedia.
- I am a researcher at Carnegie Mellon University examining how to make interaction in Wikipedia more effective. Our research has shown that certain types of feedback encourage Wikipedians to edit more while others seem to discourage them. Experienced and less experienced Wikipedians seem to have different reactions to very similar feedback. I am interested in interviewing you about your reaction to the message I sent you. A discussion with you will help us better understand the types of feedback that can encourage newcomers's participation to Wikipedia without turning off old-timers.
- I can talk with you via online chat, on Skype, over the phone, or just through Wikipedia messages if you are more comfortable with that. The interview should take take less than 60 minutes. You do need to be over 18 years old, and consent to be a part of the study in order to for me to interview you. This study has been approved by Carnegie Mellon's research ethics committee (the IRB), and the Wikipedia Research Committee.
- Thank you for your time, and I look forward to hearing from you soon. We will be glad to send you a draft describing our research results right after the interview.
Madhu Pandit Dasa
