Inaccuracies
-There should be no debate that the name DOESN'T come from playing for Verdy. He'd used "Hulk" the year before, when he played in black and red for Consadole Sapporo, and home club Kawasaki play in light blue. Any mentioning of this has got to be deleted as the source is inaccurate. Checking any simple record of his scoring history in Japan can show this to be the case. -He had a stellar year for Verdy in 2007 but not 2008. Despite being a top goal scorer for the few months there, his constant pouty outbursts brought immense embarrassment to the team. He wasn't reliable enough to keep and the team was relegated. I met him while he visited the locker room of my home club and he exudes poor attitude. He felt himself not only a better player, but a better human being than Japanese people. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 114.48.25.222 (talk) 05:31, 12 March 2009 (UTC)
I saw Hulk play in a game against S-Pulse in 2008. He scored 2 and set up 2. In that particular match he watch clearly the best player on the park, and it didn't surprise me when he moved to Europe soon after.
I was wondering if anyone knows why his nickname in Japanese voiced as 'Fuki' but written as 'Hulk'? Also, I noticed the stats are wrong at the bottom of his page. After the first season on loan at Verdy he returned to Frontale for the start of 2008. I could be wrong, but I thought he played a couple of games before returning to Verdy? Either way, his career totals don't include the appearances he made for Frontale before joining Verdy on loan. Ban
I added info about Hulk's long-term ban, after noticing that the previous info didn't make much sense, and clearly quoted from the following news article, without referencing it [1]. or perhaps the news article referenced wikipedia without crediting the source? regardless, it seemed poorly written, so have updated and referenced. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.200.25.134 (talk) 09:49, 18 February 2010 (UTC)

The website Tribal Football, amongst others, have reported that Hulk has been signed by Chelsea F.C. for a transfer fee of £38 million. I just wanted to ensure it would be updated soon.

- ω Awaiting confirmation and further developments. Latest reports are not confirmed by any of the involved parties. It's only reported through anonymous sources that the fee has been agreed upon. The player and Chelsea still have to agree to personal terms and pass the physical before he actually puts pen to paper. But yes, once the signing is announced by the club, we can update it. --Mosmof (talk) 19:10, 1 June 2012 (UTC)

Givanildo Souza → Hulk (footballer) – User:BuickCenturyDriver moved this article to Givanildo Souza, but this change clearly goes against Wikipedia's naming conventions, specifically WP:UCN, which is to use the commonly used name, not necessary the "real" or "official" name. This person is known as "Hulk" by the media, and is listed as such by his teams and sanctioning bodies. See also: Pelé, Bono, Hulk Hogan. Mosmof (talk) 02:25, 22 June 2012 (UTC)
- If consensus is for the nickname, then so be it. I tend to be bold sometimes. Also I moved it because "Hulk" is an ambiguious name. –BuickCenturyDriver 02:53, 22 June 2012 (UTC)
- Having just redirected Hulk (footballer) here, I noticed this on the talkpage... I've just run a few searches, and I agree with Mosmof - the only times his real name is used in sources tends to be in the phrase, "Hulk (real name Givanildo Souza)...", whereas he's often referred to simply as "Hulk" without any qualifier. Per the Manual, we should move this article back to Hulk (footballer). Yunshui 雲水 06:47, 22 June 2012 (UTC) Per the above, I've just G6ed the target page to allow the redirect to be reversed. - Best thing to do is wait, I've speedied the redirects so it can be reversed. –BuickCenturyDriver 06:53, 22 June 2012 (UTC)

- Support - per WP:COMMONNAME. I have never heard him referred to as 'Givanildo Souza', always Hulk, and most Brazilian players are indeed known by a nickname, though it's rarely as popular or widespread as Hulk. GiantSnowman 13:54, 22 June 2012 (UTC)
- Support. Should've never been moved in the first place. The whole football world knows him by "Hulk", ambiguous or not. Parutakupiu (talk) 13:59, 22 June 2012 (UTC)

Hulk is the name he's known by in the football world. Are you people retarded or something?
This page should not be speedily deleted because... its his actual nickname. It is printed on the back of his shirt as #12 Hulk — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.244.30.87 (talk) 04:00, 22 June 2012 (UTC)
This page should not be speedily deleted because...otherwise we have no source of biographical information on the popular footballer nicknamed "Hulk". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.7.196.112 (talk) 04:33, 22 June 2012 (UTC)
This page should not be speedily deleted because... it is the name he uses to ply his trade. People do not identify with his real name. If this page was to be deleted, then the page for the musician Sting would have to be deleted as well. It is a dangerous precedent in this context. --2.51.120.132 (talk) 04:45, 22 June 2012 (UTC)

This page should not be speedily deleted because he is known as HULK and he is a FOOTBALLER. You folks think that's enough to differentiate between this character and the monstrous one or do we need further adjectives (i.e. HULK (NOT GREEN FOOTBALLER))? --AL (talk) 19:51, 13 August 2012 (UTC)
