Thought I'd give this a try, but need to check about Featured picture sets. How do these work? Treat each image as one FP?

A decent example is Wikipedia:Featured_picture_candidates/The_Early_Poems_of_Alfred,_Lord_Tennyson Adam Cuerden (talk) 19:41, 30 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Probably doesn't help that I'm the only person to regularly do them. I think Durova did one once, that's it. Adam Cuerden (talk) 20:16, 30 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

And, just to double check, I can't count any FP whose upload and/or nomination come before January 1st, right? (And, obviously, the finishing of work on it, but I'm presuming that the one I'm working on now is fine if I don't finish it today, which is unlikely.) WikiCup 2013 starting soon

Hi there; you're receiving this message because you have previously shown interest in the WikiCup. This is just to remind you that the 2013 WikiCup will be starting on 1 January, and that signups will remain open throughout January. Old and new Wikipedians and WikiCup participants are warmly invited to take part in this year's competition. (Though, as a note to the more experienced participants, there have been a few small rules changes in the last few months.) If you have already signed up, let this be a reminder; you will receive a message with your submissions' page soon. Please direct any questions to the WikiCup talk page. Thanks! Wikicup round dates

Hi, I've not participated in the wikicup before but have put myself down for 2013. I've been looking at the rules & scoring etc - but am unable to find the dates for the "rounds". Maybe I just haven't found the right page, but could you point them out as there will be a couple of times during the year when I will be busy/away and not able to do much.— Rod talk 11:53, 31 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. BTW the page you pointed me to says these are dates for 2012.— Rod talk 14:52, 31 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

WikiCup

Hi and thanks first for all you do for the WikiCup. I wanted to let you know that the flag for me currently shows up as Luxembourg, though I changed it on the submissions page to the state of Pennsylvania. Is it possible that you could change it, or is it too late? Thanks. Go Phightins! 04:50, 1 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Newsletter

Hey! Are you still interested in writing the editorial for January's newsletter? It will be sent on Jan. 3 and I'd like to know to see if we'd need an emergency writer :) — ΛΧΣ21 07:38, 1 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Flags for Wikicup

Hello,

Can I use this image as my flag? - File:Sheldon's apartment flag.svg.

I would really like to.

Thanks, TheOriginalSoni (talk) 09:40, 1 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. What exactly are the rules for FP? If I nominate any picture for FP and it passes, do I get the points for that? And do those nominations have to be for enWiki? Or can those be the nominations for commons too? TheOriginalSoni (talk) 09:40, 1 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Participant Missing from WikiCup Participant List

Hello JM,

User:TropicalAnalystwx13 initially signed up for the WikiCup (#5), but he is not on the pool list. If you could add him back in, that would be great! TheAustinMan(Talk·Works) 17:58, 1 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Wikicup submissions page layout enquiry

Hello, this is my first go in the wikicup and I would like to ask, have I laid out the DYK template correctly on my submissions page so that it will be picked up by the bot? The C of E. God Save The Queen! (talk) 16:17, 2 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Wikicup

Pickett's Charge at the Battle of Gettysburg

I thought I'd start off the Featured Pictures side of the Wikicup with my favourite artist. Have to wait a couple days to nominate it, due to FP rules, though. Adam Cuerden (talk) 19:47, 2 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

2013 Wiki Cup

I am a new user who joined in August of last year and also joined the Wiki Cup. Hahc21 has been helping me, ut he does not know the answer to this question. If you do please answer it. So, if it does appear on the main page (featured article, picture etc), it doesn't count?--Lucky102 (talk) 21:40, 2 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have to work on it significantly for it to count?
Including DYK's, just say if Norbert Murphy, an article which I nominate and worked on significantly, becomes a DYK, I get the point, but if I nominate, say Paris, which I barely or never worked on and it becomes a DYK, due to my nomination, I don't get the points? For photos, do you have to take the photo, or just nominate it, because you don't really work significantly on a photo.--Lucky102 (talk) 12:33, 3 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Audio bitrate reduction.

Do you know how I might be actually able to create a version of that has a lower bitrate? I created the .ogg version of the sample using Audacity, but I haven't found a control within the program that can alter the bitrate. Besides, I thought .ogg files were designed to have the lowest possible bitrates anyway. I Am RufusConversation is a beautiful thing. 09:53, 3 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Wikicup

I joined the Wikicup, got a welcome message on my talk and everything, but I'm not on the list and my submissions page has yet to be created.  — Statυs (talk, contribs) 21:25, 3 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I've got a question for you. (When, or I guess, if) Latin Grammy Award for Best Long Form Music Video is promoted to FL status, would it count for the cup? It was originally nominated in December.  — Statυs (talk, contribs) 22:24, 3 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page stalker) No, it wouldn't: you have to have worked on it this year; the actual nomination date doesn't particularly matter. Hope that helps, - Jarry1250 [Deliberation needed] 23:43, 3 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Potential FACs?

Now the articles you "approved" are FAs, so now I have a few left that I'm not sure about. I think Red Rail and Réunion Ibis could go, but I also have Lesser Antillean Macaw, which is slightly controversial, and has few sources, and then Rodrigues Rail, which is quite short. Something like Abuwtiyuw is much shorter, though, and became an FA. FunkMonk (talk) 06:13, 4 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
