Vishal–Shekhar are a music directing duo (Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani) for Hindi, Telugu and Marathi films. They have had a number of successes including Jhankaar Beats, Om Shanti Om, Salaam Namaste, Dus, Bluffmaster, Tashan, Bachna Ae Haseeno, Dostana, Anjaana Anjaani, Ra.One, Balak Palak (Marathi) and more.

Career

The duo rose to prominence when they composed the score for the film Jhankaar Beats which included the hit song "Tu Aashiqui Hai". Their efforts paid off when they won the Filmfare RD Burman Award for New Music Talent for Jhankaar Beats. The music for the film Musafir became popular with young people in India and overseas. They combined techno music with Indian sounds. The score included the hits "Saaki" and "Door Se Paas". 2005 was a good year for the duo as they composed the scores for three hit films: Salaam Namaste, Dus and Bluffmaster. Work in association with Red Chillies Entertainment.

Vishal Dadlani is also the vocalist of Mumbai-based electronic band Pentagram.

Shekhar Ravjiani is a trained classical singer and has a sound base of Indian music. Shekhar was a participant of Zee TV singing contest Sa Re Ga Ma Pa in 1997. He also composed and sung a marathi song sajani which was appreciated by the audience.

Other acts

They have been judges on the popular star hunt show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2007 and the musical talent show Jo Jeeta Wohi Super Star with director and choreographer Farah Khan. They are the judges on Amul Star Voice Of India Mummy Ki Superstars. They were mentors and judges in the Zee TV reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa with Sajid-Wajid. They have composed title track for Star Plus' upcoming daily Navya and Piya Re Bhavri.

They have also composed the IPL theme song of season 3 and Anthem of Kolkata Knight Riders.

Vishal Ashok Somkuwar will be the World's first ever musicians to perform for a live audio concert which will be accessible on mobile phones and the internet. They are excited to be the pioneer in the show which may put them in the Guinness Book Of World Records.[1]

Following the terror attacks on Mumbai on 26 November 2008, Vishal Dadlani launched a petition to ban live media coverage during the rescue operations.[2]

They are the composers behind the Kailash Kher's song "Allah Ke Bande" from Waisa Bhi Hota Hai Part II.

On January 23, 2012, Vishal and Shekhar performed at Spring Fest 2012 in IIT Kharagpur on January 22,2012; they also performed at Saarang in IIT Madras.[3]

On February 15, 2012, Vishal and Shekhar performed at Crossroads 2012 in SRCC.[4][5]

On March 25, 2012, Vishal and Shekhar with Shruti Pathak performed live at Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University in Flare (Techno-Cultural Fest).[6]

On December 23, 2012, Vishal and Shekhar with Shruti Pathak performed live at IIM Ahmedabad in Chaos (Techno-Cultural Fest)

On March 10, 2013, Vishal and Shekhar with Shruti Pathak performed live at Galgotias University (G-Quasar 2013)
