Have you been to Yohmor? Because I have many times and I know the legends of the village. :)

Are you aware that 95.166.204.177 was typing in Danish or Norweigan, and may not even be able to understand English? I just put a "Welcome to Wikipedia! There's a Danish Wikipedia available!" welcome template on the talk page. --I dream of horses @ 18:22, 4 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the effort. Those edits are unfortunately unconstructive and include some vulgar language. Widr (talk) 18:36, 4 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

I deleted the page for Linda Burfield Hazzard as the whole article (apart from some references to newspaper articles of the time which really don't tell us much.) has obviously been gleaned from "Starvation Heights" a rabid, sensationalist account of Burfield's trial - a smear job. The article uses "starvation" and "fasting" interchangeably. (As a matter of interest it takes 75 days to starve to death.) Also, it has supposed ex-patients of Hazard talking about having one orange per day or some thin tomato broth every day. No fasting practitioner gives any food during a fast. A water fast is just that - no food! An orange or tomato is the sort of thing used to break a fast. Food has to be re-introduced gradually. I know because I have done a self administered fast of 42 days 6 years ago and a 12 day fast around a month ago.

This is from Hazzard's book: "Scientific Fasting" "..........During a fast that is to be prolonged until hunger returns, food of any kind is an intruder, for the energy of the body is being directed through the organs of elimination toward cleansing the system of self-manufactured poison.........When toxic elimination has reached the vanishing point, the juncture at which rebuilding of cell structure is demanded lest the body die, hunger will definitively appear.......... (note that in this passage Hazard does not sound like the crazed, power mad sadist that she is portrayed as. The book was obviously written by a clever, rational woman and is very interesting. From readin her book I can tell you that Hazard was not the lone loony she is portrayed as in this article and in "Starvation Heights". ) She was taught by Dewey, one of the two pioneers of therapeutic fasting.

As someone who has done a long fast myself, I know that hunger disappears after around 3 days. While it is true that when fasting, one thinks constantly of food, it is not because of hunger per se. I would regularly cook for the freezer while fasting, with no inclination at all to eat what I was preparing. So accounts of "inmates" begging for help because they were starving is just not credible.

It is true that Hazard did practice vigorous enemas and massage (unlike Dewey her mentor). Some other therapeutic fasting practitioners also used enemas but this practice fell out of favour around 80 years ago under the influence of Shelton and enemas are no longer thought to be necessary.

I am writing a book about alternative medicine, including the history of therapeutic fasting. I will be writing a critique of "Starvation Heights" in a few days time and will be happy to post an objective, sensible article on Hazard on Wikipedia when I have finished it. I will be carefully dissecting the book "Starvation Heights" page by page. I can tell you now though that there are very few verifiable facts in it. It reads like a horribly overwritten novel, full of purple prose. It certainly is not objective!

If the author of the original article wants to disagree with me, let him/her post some verifiable facts with references and sources that can be checked. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rawbeetroot (talkcontribs) 22:15, 4 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Deleting most of the article without explaining why is usually considered vandalism. That's why you should always remember to use the edit summary. Widr (talk) 22:22, 4 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have been trying to edit the first para for a little more objectivity. I have only succeeded in editing the first sentence. The rest of the edit seems to be blocked. Is this because some kind of bot has been put in place to block my edits? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rawbeetroot (talkcontribs) 10:07, 7 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Nobody else has been editing the article, besides you. No bots or other human beings. Widr (talk) 10:21, 7 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

OK. I am fairly new to writing/editing on Wikipedia. Why are my edits not working? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rawbeetroot (talkcontribs) 10:22, 7 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I see that you've made some edits to the article. If you don't see the outcome when you save the page, you could try to refresh the page. Maybe that would help. Other than that, it's hard to figure out what the problem could be. Widr (talk) 10:52, 7 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

For the record: I am currently readying Starvation Heights and it is an excellent book. Its very well researched and Olsen uses his imagination to reconstruct the events. It is fairly well balanced and is sympathetic to all of the characters involved. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.246.35.164 (talk) 18:06, 9 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Widr!

I just saw a message about my Desmoche updates, I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to updating wikipedia, so I'm not sure which changes you flagged as practice. I am Nicaraguan and have been playing Desmoche for the past 23 years, so I have been updating the entry because it was missing some key details and had a few other details slightly askew. (If I am using this talk page improperly, please let me know. Kevin Kevinpr81 (talk) 22:24, 4 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Kevin. Sorry about that. It was a mistake on my part and I already reverted myself. I tried to remove the message quickly, but I guess I wasn't quick enough as you noticed it. Happy editing. Widr (talk) 22:31, 4 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

OK, glad to hear that! I was worried I was doing something wrong. Kevinpr81 (talk) 22:39, 4 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Endogamy

Oh, you shouldn't have! That whole line needs to go. Don't even worry about it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.111.169.45 (talk) 11:10, 6 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It would be better if you could provide a reason for removing the content. Widr (talk) 11:28, 6 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

New Page Made

I had to redo a page I made because the original title was misspelt. I deleted the original and created a new page for it (Victor Ciardelli). Not sure if this was the best way to do it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Npgates24 (talkcontribs) 17:08, 6 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I see, thanks for the info. The misspelled page should be deleted soon, as it's been tagged by now. Widr (talk) 17:14, 6 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Silk Road

Thanks for reverting the vandalism today - I've seen so much recently I've semi-protected it again. Dougweller (talk) 18:35, 6 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. It seems to be one of those popular pages. Widr (talk) 18:38, 6 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

March 2013

Hello! You just made a mistake. Someone had put together parts from articles Soviet partisans in Latvia and Latvian national partisans and made article Latvian partisans. It should be deleated not to litter wikipedia with duplicates! Dukurs (talk) 20:37, 6 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Please explain your edits in the edit summary. You just blanked the article, and blanking can be mistaken for vandalism. Widr (talk) 20:44, 6 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
OK. By the way what could we do with the title of redirected article Latvian partisans? Dukurs (talk) 21:03, 6 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You mean the title of the article or the article itself? If you want the article to be deleted, you could nominate it for deletion. Widr (talk) 21:11, 6 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Edit to Nintendo

You recently fixed an edit that came from my IP address on the Nintendo page (Edit to Nintendo: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo?diff=540306730). Having done a little bit of investigation I've discovered that this edit came from my 11 year old son who couldn't resist the impulse to see what happened if he edited something. I've now discussed with him that the point of Wikipedia is to share accurate information, not to be silly. Sorry for the inconvenience; hopefully his future contributions will be more constructive. 212.159.46.81 (talk) 12:44, 9 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for letting me know. I appreciate your approach to this. Widr (talk) 13:22, 9 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Fenriz!

What do you mean, not constructive? Fenriz most certainly IS the most beautiful man in all of Scandinavia! Ask any Darkthrone fan anywhere!

LOL I'm joking. I know what you mean. By the way, a few of my friends messed up a few more pages...you may wanna check the pages Euronymous, Hillel Slovak, Aidan Turner, and the list of dwarves from Middle Earth. Make sure you scroll down to Kili. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.192.47.120 (talk) 16:33, 9 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Joseph Muscat

Why is Joseph Muscat's page saying he is Prime Minister of Malta at 1pm GMT on 10 March 2013?

Voting hasn't finished yet. Has the outgoing Prime Minister resigned yet? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.144.143.115 (talk) 13:44, 10 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I reverted your edit because of YOUR SHOUTING, not because of the content. Widr (talk) 13:48, 10 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

petr

how come you placed that warning on my talk page? i don't recall editing that article in fact. FoCuSandLeArN (talk) 20:52, 10 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It was this edit. Seems to have been just a mistake. It was over a month ago, but the warning came automatically, so I removed it as soon as I noticed it. Widr (talk) 20:56, 10 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Abe Q

You recently undid my edition of the Blaq Poet - Tha Blaqprint section of the DJ Premier production discography page. Bearing in mind that the same article lists all the entire albums produced by him even if it bars a few songs which the article notes. I was just trying to keep the article in context, and I view that as constructive. Kindly respond. - Abe Q, 21:08, 10 March 2013 (UTC)

Please use edit summary when you are making these kind of edits. Removing a large amount of content without explaining the reason can be mistaken for vandalism. Widr (talk) 21:09, 10 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
