Nickelodeon Turkey (abbreviated as "Nick", but usually called Nickelodeon in promos and bumpers is a kid's cable/satellite television channel which launched on April 11, 1994

History

Nickelodeon Turkey launched on April 11, 1994 on Sky Cable and Analogue between the hours of 9am until 3pm but then in later years from October 22, 1996 Nickelodeon started broadcasting from 8am until 5pm with Comedy Central.

From August 26, 1998, Nickelodeon and Comedy Central started broadcasting 24 hours a day and Nickelodeon was moved to channel 501.

On May 26, 1999 the Nick Jr. channel came to Turkey and mainly broadcast preschooler shows for young kids aged 2-8 and is a 24 hour kid's channel much like Nickelodeon.

Three years after Nick Jr. was launched, Nicktoons launched the 24 hour kid's channel Nicktoons on October 25, 2002. The channel mainly broadcasts cartoons aimed at kids 8-16.

On September 26, 2008 Nickelodeon and Nicktoons were added to Sky's On Demand service which had been around since 2006.

On April 5, 2010 Nickelodeon, Nicktoons and Nick Jr. had a major rebrand with new idents and a new logo.

Two new HD channels of Nickelodeon and Nicktoons were launched on October 1, 2010. Changing Nickelodeon's format from 580i to 1080i.

Opening and closing times

Startup

Nickelodeon signs-on at 7:00 AM with national anthem, promo, channel ident and programmes.

Closedown

Nickelodeon signs-off at 6:00 PM with the last programme, promo, channel ident, national anthem, test card from 6:00 PM until 7:00 AM in daily.
