Ruthy Alon page

Hello Jim, thank you very much for your help. I copied the Ruthy Alon Page text and the suggestions I received from wikipedia administrators to work on the page in the next future. I think I understand the motivations of the proposed deletion. I need more time than two days to work on the page for many reasons: first of all I am on vacations, and more important I usually write in collaboration with english-speaking friends because I am italian and english is my second language as you can see in this message. I want to learn to contribute to wikipedia in the right way. So as soon as my new 'Ruthy Alon' page will be ready I will try to upload it again. And I hope I will able to do a better work. Thank you again, Danielaagazzi 19:52, 9 August 2013 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Danielaagazzi (talkcontribs)

Anitha Shaiq

I dont know why am blocked to edit the subject "Anitha Shaiq" And please help me to catogorise this article and to remove the URLs as am new to Wikipedia . — Preceding unsigned comment added by Johnsib (talkcontribs) 03:33, 26 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page stalker) @Johnsib: You weren't "blocked" from editing it. Your edit to it was undone because it contained a link to YouTube, and in general, links to YouTube aren't helpful (see WP:YOUTUBE). Since you and 89.211.106.243 (talk) (which I assume is you logged out) added those multiple times, Jimfbleak semi-protected the article, so only established editors can edit it. However, @Jimfbleak: Johnsib is the original author of that (new) article and isn't yet autoconfirmed (I'm not sure if you noticed that or not when you semi'd it). rooting out crap articles

you've obviously seen me on my mission, of late, to get rid of advertising articles, which has largely been in the form of buildings and construction projects. However, when things get deleted quickly, I also do not get the benefit of sifting through an article's history, identifying bad actors, and following up their edits, on the assumption that the worst spammers will likely make multiple of these promotional articles.

So I'm considering submitting my name for consideration at RfA. I think I would like to limit this to the ability to review text and edit histories of deleted articles, though I'm not sure what role that would be exactly. I was wondering whether you think this is a good idea or not. Feel free to respond either here or on my talk page. -- UseTheCommandLine ~/talk ]# ▄ 06:48, 26 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Weird welcome-box

User:Jimfbleak/Talkheader seems a little broken as transcluded onto your talkpage. When I first came to User talk:Jimfbleak, it says "Hello Johnsib, and welcome to my talk page." I'm not Johnsib--he was the previous user to edit your talkpage--I'm DMacks...{{REVISIONUSER}} is the last editor, not the current viewer. It only becomes me when I [Edit] the whole page (because now I'm making the revision). But if I'm doing that by [New section] rather than editing the whole page, I that box isn't present either. The personalization feature might be more useful for a pagenotice (I'm not sure if it works correctly there), but it's kinda confusing as it stands. DMacks (talk) 07:28, 26 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Drinking games

I noticed you deleted the page I put up for proposed deletion as a G3. I wasn't to sure what speedy tag to put it under hence the proposed deletion. So, thank you for the heads up. Whispering 11:58, 26 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Main Page appearance: Fiji Parrotfinch

This is a note to let the main editors of Fiji Parrotfinch know that the article will be appearing as today's featured article on September 2, 2013. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page. If you prefer that the article appear as TFA on a different date, or not at all, please ask featured article director Raul654 (talk · contribs) or one of his delegates (Dabomb87 (talk · contribs), Gimmetoo (talk · contribs), and Bencherlite (talk · contribs)), or start a discussion at Wikipedia talk:Today's featured article/requests. You can view the TFA blurb at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/September 2, 2013. If it needs tweaking, or if it needs rewording to match improvements to the article between now and its main page appearance, please edit it, following the instructions at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/requests/instructions. The blurb as it stands now is below:

Fiji Parrotfinch

The Fiji Parrotfinch is a species of estrildid finch endemic to Fiji that was formerly considered to be a subspecies of the Red-headed Parrotfinch. This parrotfinch is a small, mainly green bird with a red head and tail and a stubby dark grey bill. It is found in both forested and open habitats, and has adapted well to man-made environments such as grasslands, pasture and gardens. This bird has a courtship display in which a pair fly above the trees in an undulating flight, calling constantly. Breeding birds build a domed grass nest with a side entrance, and lay a clutch normally of four white eggs. The Fiji Parrotfinch eats seeds, especially of grasses, but also readily feeds on insects and nectar. It forms small flocks of up to six birds after the breeding season. Parrotfinches may be predated by indigenous birds of prey such as the endemic Fiji Goshawk, or by introduced mammals like the small Asian mongooses, rats and mice, and they may be susceptible to disease. Nevertheless, the Fiji species, despite being both uncommon and endemic to one island group, appears to be stable in numbers. It is classified as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List, and it is protected under Fijian law. (Full article...)

Removal of CIIM page

Dear Jimfbleak

Our company page has been removed. How can I resubmit the content? Can you send me the old content so I can edit it in order to comply with the regulations?

Removal of Little Bay Restaurants page

Dear Jimfbleak

The Little Bay Restaurants page I created was deleted as being promotional. However, I contest this as I am not seeking to promote the Little Bay Restaurants. The fact is that they are an important part of culture in London and Brighton in the UK and play an integral part of the history of Restaurants in the UK. The main argument for this is the 'Pay What You Think It's Worth' scheme introduced by its owner, Peter Ilic, which attracted attention from around the world - being featured on CNN, Reuters, The Guardian and other reputable sources. I endeavoured to include such source in my article to allow for verification of the facts. I am therefore very disappointed that my article was removed without due consideration or consultation. I would appreciate it if you could review the page in the light of things and advise whether you could kindly restore the page.

Thanks Jimmyd91 (talk) 11:44, 28 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Little Bay Restaurants page

Dear Jimfbleak,

Thank you for clarifying the reasons for the earlier deletion. I have added it as a request for an article to be written. Would you consider writing an article about the restaurants?

Thanks Jimmyd91 (talk) 14:30, 28 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jim. You nuked this under G11 - I think (given the user's actions yesterday) that it was actually a good-faith attempt to create an article about Niall Horan (currently a redirect). Whether such an article is necessary is a whole different kettle of fish, but total annihilation seems a bit severe - he's none too chuffed about it. I was wondering whether you'd object if I reinstated it for him (perhaps as a sandbox page, rather than a userpage)? Cheers, Yunshui  09:24, 29 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I had checked over that page a couple of times. The user blanks it nearly everyday, then makes random articles about people (e.g. Homer Simpson). Thanks, Insulam Simia (talk · contribs) 13:21, 29 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jim

You recently deleted the Killik & Co page. I have made several changes and wondered whether you could please look at it to tell me whether it now complies with the Wiki guidelines?

Thanks

(talk page stalker) If it is publicly available information, it will be in the Wikipedia article - whether the subjects wants it or not. If there is a plausible reason for not wanting the DoB in the article, the subject should contact the Wikipedia Volunteer Response Team (see: Wikipedia:Contact us. User talk:Epiphonewiki requesting unblock

I was going through CAT:RFUB and came across this appeal. You blocked him on August 20 for spamublock. My reading of his talk page suggests he is now aware of Wikipedia's content rules. He states he is an enthusiast for these guitars and it sounds like he doesn't have a corporate connection. Do you think it's OK to unblock to let him change his username? Thanks, EdJohnston (talk) 05:02, 31 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

BulbAmerica article

Hi Jimfbleak!

BA is the largest seller of bulbs in the US and I buy wholesale from them for my high school physics and AP classes. One of my students is interested in Wikipedia and I want to let him research this as a project and how it relates to our class. I saw BA was deleted for being unambiguously promotional. I've started an article here that is not. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Favprof/sandbox I could use some help getting the article to mainspace for easier access for my student. Thanks for your help! Favprof (talk) 03:07, 1 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You speedied this article earlier today. I had already objected to the speedy deletion, since I did not believe it was irredeemably promotional, and whoever replaced the speedy nomination did so inappropriately. The article had already been BLP-PROD nominated, and that process should have been allowed to run and afford the apparently inexperienced article creator the opportunity to address the article's problems. The article appeared to make a reasonable case for notability. Hullaballoo Wolfowitz (talk) 17:22, 1 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
