Beverly Hills railway station is on the East Hills railway line, served by the T2 Airport Line of the Sydney Trains network in Sydney. It serves the suburb of Beverly Hills. It has an island platform. Beverly Hills is used by approximately 3500 commuters each weekday.[1]

History

Dumbleton railway station opened on 23 December 1931 as part of the single-track non-electrified line between Kingsgrove and Herne Bay (now Riverwood). It was renamed Beverly Hills in 1940.[2] In 1939, the line through Beverly Hills was electrified and it was duplicated in 1948. Beverly Hills is unique amongst original East Hills Line stations as it is the only station with asymmetrical platforms, that is, the up platform (platform 1: towards Sydney) is curved but the down platform (platform 2: away from Sydney) is straight. It was one of the last stations in Sydney to use Edmondson-style paper tickets.[3] In the early 2000s, a lift to street level and a covered walkway from the stairs to the station building were added, providing Easy Access for wheelchairs. The station is on the State Register as a Heritage Item.

In 2013, a Rail Clearways project to quadruplicate the East Hills line between Kingsgrove and Revesby was completed. The two additional tracks do not have platforms at Beverly Hills.
