Ways to improve Contraventions Act
Hi, I'm Carriearchdale. Wieno, thanks for creating Contraventions Act!
I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Please add some categories to the article. Thanks!
The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse. Carriearchdale (talk) 20:56, 1 February 2014 (UTC)
- I added two more categories and removed the tag. Four categories isn't a lot but I honestly can't think of any other ones, so it seems complete. Hope that works for you. Wieno (talk) 06:33, 2 February 2014 (UTC)
Thanks!
Thanks for removing the PROD at Women's Rights are Human Rights. I've asked for someone at the feminism WP to take a look at it and improve it overall, as I only know a little bit about it and this area of Wikipedia isn't really my forte. I was going to remove the PROD myself since I'm finding quite a bit to show notability, but I appreciate you removing it. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 06:03, 4 February 2014 (UTC)

You recently initiated an article for deletion discussion on the above article that I created. You will note that in my initial response to that discussion I highlighted WP:BEFORE and WP:ATD. As users, we are different as anyone taking a casual glance at us would easily tell; I spend much of my time creating articles and very little on deletion discussions; with you it seems to be the exact opposite. I would not assume that we are likely to change our emphasis, however, I would urge you to read the two policies I refer to above and consider a different approach. If you did, I think you would find those creative users like myself happy to collaborate with you to improve wikipedia. Graemp (talk) 18:17, 4 February 2014 (UTC)
- There are currently 6387 unreviewed Wikipedia pages awaiting curation, dating back to October 21st, 2013. I'm currently trying to lower that backlog, and that includes nominating for deletion articles that I do not believe meet the notability guideline. Page creation and page curation are both important aspects of making Wikipedia such a great site, and I don't believe one is inherently more valuable than another. One of the nice things about Wikipedia is that there is a great deal of important work to be done, and different editors with different skillsets and interests can focus on the tasks they wish to focus on. It's true that in this particular instance I did not check Google Books when I should have, and I appreciate you pointing that out. If, upon going through Google Books I had found enough coverage for the subject to meet GNG, I would have withdrawn my nomination, but that didn't happen. So the flaw in the process here does not invalidate the result, which I still believe to be sound. In any event, I do not believe it warrants continued digs at my character, skills or nationality. If your comments were not meant to cause offence, then I understand and ask that you maybe be a bit more cautious about how comments like those may come off to recipients. If you did mean to cause offence, then I do not believe you are acting within the spirit of Wikipedia's civility pillar. An AfD nomination, even one you may believe to be premature or shoddily done, is not an attack on you as a creator. It should not be met by hostility. Wieno (talk) 18:39, 4 February 2014 (UTC)
Notability
Hi, we haven't met, and sorry for this to be first comment but this tag was not appropriate. In such cases an editor should check the original (in this case German) wikipedia for GNG before using a CSD of this kind. Best regards. In ictu oculi (talk) 11:45, 5 February 2014 (UTC)
- You're right; I was being too hasty. I'll try to be more careful in the future. Thanks for the pointer. Wieno (talk) 20:34, 5 February 2014 (UTC)
- No problem. In ictu oculi (talk) 21:15, 5 February 2014 (UTC)
Thank you
Hi, I just noticed that you left a message on my talk page concerning my User Page move. Thank you for notifying me. I will try to fix this (if not already fixed). Thanks again. Lovecherry (talk) 18:40, 5 February 2014 (UTC)
M. S. Howell
Hello Wieno,
I have thoroughly read two Wikipedia articles that relate to notability and academic significance, and after reading them both, I must say that M. S. Howell in no way falls short of either.
Perhaps you can elucidate further your specific concerns.
Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Uq (talk • contribs) 23:28, 5 February 2014 (UTC)
- The problem is that all of the biographical information comes from a self-published source. I suppose if the book is notable he may be as well per WP:AUTHOR, but really any biographical information apart from the fact that he wrote the book should ideally come from an independent, secondary source. Perhaps you can point me to some other secondary sources that cover him (or better yet include those in the article)? As was pointed out in the removal of the PROD, his CIE makes him notable per WP:ANYBIO (I didn't notice it, which is my bad), but I'm still wary about all his biographical details coming from his own book. Wieno (talk) 23:45, 5 February 2014 (UTC)
- I understand your concerns. M. S. Howell's biographical information was actually sourced predominantly from the British Archive. I will do my best to retrieve the sources I used and to reference the information on the article. Thank you for pointing this out. Uq (talk) 23:53, 5 February 2014 (UTC)
Superpowers
There is no problem with the categories you suggested, once the page protection is expires (17 February) we will add them. But as you can see from the IP who commented at the articles talk page, who thinks China and Russia are superpowers, there is a lot of nationalistic POV surrounding the article. I have been trying to remove nationalistic POV from the article and get it back on track to dealing with the history, characteristics and definitions of a Superpower. Antiochus the Great (talk) 23:13, 7 February 2014 (UTC)
- My acedemic source for Russia as a superpower in catagory in Superpower is using this acedemic source: http://catdir.loc.gov/catdir/samples/cam051/2004045110.pdf
I am not Russian but I feel this is country to have its own catagory under superpower since it is a superpower. --64.129.10.92 (talk) 00:29, 8 February 2014 (UTC)
deletion
Hi Wieno,
Why you are going on and deleting my contents? Zaha Talhouni and MuslimAwards?
You should have notified me if there is anything missing in the article. I am new to this, and I think what you have done is improper. I can't now retrieve my contents. so I kindly ask you to at least get me back my contents so I can work on improving them. In Regards to Zaha talhouni, all the reference as National News papers that are in Arabic. She is well know in the Middle east and a really hero to all female athletes in the middle east. She was honored the King Hussein Honor Medal the highest rank in the Hashemite kingdom of Jordan.
Awaiting your response

- Hi HakamS, and thanks for contributing to Wikipedia! In regards to Zaha Talhouni, this is the first I've heard of the article. It looks like someone else has nominated the article for deletion, but it has not yet been deleted, and the discussion is actually tilting towards keeping the article. You are more than welcome to weigh in on why you think that article should be kept at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Zaha Talhouni.
- For the Muslim Awards, I tagged the article for speedy deletion because it did not credibly indicate the importance or significance of the awards. I did not actually delete the article; that decision was made by RHaworth, an administrator on Wikipedia. If you believe that the speedy deletion criteria were wrongly applied or want a copy of the article moved into your user space so you can work on it, he's the person you should ask. You can do that by posting a message on his talk page. Hope this helps, and let me know if you have any other questions. Wieno (talk) 18:53, 9 February 2014 (UTC)
