Hello I am JohnGormleyJG
I am requesting to be a template editor on the English Wikipedia. I would consider myself a regular editor and edit as often as I possibly can. The main reason I edit wikipedia is because I love to. It is a great hobby of mine. I am always looking for ways to improve my editing skills and try to push myself to the next level. A few months ago I became a Rollbacker and Reviewer that achievement I was delighted and honored with. Thinking of the many people using this site daily and my hope to make this a consistent good site for each and every user that comes onto this site. My responsibility is to make sure this is as up to date as I can possibly make it. Oblige by the rules and guidelines. Encourage fellow editors, and teach new ones. I am also currently working on a new design for my Userpage which includes a variety of sub-pages. At the moment my userpage is a bit out of date as I wrote it when I first started here on Wikipedia, but as I say I am always doing new things and I hope to have the new design complete by the end of this week. I now wish to step up in my Wikipedia editing by conquering the next level and becoming a "Template Editor". I have a very strong password that I use for nothing else which is embedded into my brain and nobody else knows or has access to my account as it does be used on a separate profile and I never login in public internet cafes so my account is very secure. I always when I am editing see preview before I save the page and be particularly careful with major edits and strive to boost content in the Wikipedia community. If I do be making a change which has an impact/effect on the Template I always discuss it on the talkpage to hear some other voices and get some more opinions. One of the main reasons I am applying for this is I want to share my opinion and hear others by discussing it in the talk page and create edits that will work out for the common good of Templates. One thing I can promise you is that I will NEVER abuse my rights, as I never have before with my rollback and reviewing rights. I never will abuse my rights as a template editor either. Thank you for reading this and I hope you consider the motion I am offering you.
Thank You,
-- JohnGormleyJG ()

Not done. Wikipedia is not an MMORPG and userrights are not "level ups". Reaper Eternal (talk) 16:34, 10 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your response. Could you give me some advice on what I can do to get this right -- JohnGormleyJG () 16:55, 10 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I now wish to step up in my Wikipedia editing by conquering the next level and becoming a "Template Editor" Now that sounds an awful lot like hat collecting, or at least, thinking user rights are a "hierarchy". Having rollback doesn't give you more authority over other Wikipedians than a recently registered user with five edits does. Gaining a new user right is not synonymous with "step up your game". --I am k6ka Talk to me! See what I have done 17:09, 15 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think we should be denying people the template editor right just because they actually want it. That sounds a lot like a catch-22 to me. Rather, we should base our decisions on whether editors fulfil the granting guidelines. Unfortunately, in JohnGormleyJG's case he doesn't appear to satisfy points #3, #5 and #6 in the guidelines, so while I disagree with the other admins posting here I agree with their final assessment. — Mr. Stradivarius ♪ talk ♪ 23:32, 15 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@ Mr. Stradivarius Thank You for being constructive and giving me something to improve on. I will work on those points you have given me.
