"I have three things I'd like to say today. First, while you were sleeping last night, 30,000 kids died of starvation or diseases related to malnutrition. Second, most of you don't give a shit. What's worse is that you're more upset with the fact that I said shit than the fact that 30,000 kids died last night."

Wow, I love how that just hits you with truth.

Phenomenalist

I took out the reference to Campolo being a "phenomenalist" because there was no explanation or reference to back it up. It is a significant philosophical label with ramifications as to how one perceives a man in Campolo's position. So, it begs explanation in the form of a quote or statement from Campolo that provides context. Michael T. 20:21, 6 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What's his stance on creationism?

And science for that matter.

According to this article[1], he is in to a form of Old Earth creationism... --devonwhittle 23:00, 2 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Damn. So there is one flaw with him. --Havermayer 09:15, 11 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Just be glad he's not into Young Earth creationism.Mustang6172 21:36, 27 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
No way! His one flaw is that he is being to liberal with Genesis devonwhittle 04:37, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Him saying that "evolution is just a theory" shows he has absolutely no idea of the difference between a laymen's use of the word theory, and the scientific use of the word theory. A theory in everyday terms in not a scientific theory. In laymen's terms, the word "theory" means speculation or opinion. In science, theories are proven hypothesis that have been verified by other sources. That is why gravity is refered to as a theory.

-intranetusa

That is incorrect, a theorum is proven, a theory is a proposition or hypothesis that has at least some evidence for supporting it. It is a matter of scientific debate as to whether or not a theory is 'weak' (ie little evidence and some contradictory evidence) or strong, (the opposite). Check on dictionary.com. He is a sociologist and does understand more than you might think. Dont politicie this intra, he hasnt, he avoids creationism vs evolution by calling it a theory and thereby not coming down on either side.

Quotes

Quotations belong on Wikiquote. An informal rule of thumb is that up to five quotes may be in an article, but if it's a longer list it should be in our sister project. -Will Beback 23:08, 12 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. As a writer with a long career, and one who tries to have memorable "sound bites," Campolo is bound to produce more "quote-able" material than some other writers. Nonetheless, three to five distinctive quotes that seem to summarize his messages or themes should be enough for an encyclopedia article.Lawikitejana 01:30, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sexuality

I have removed comments which constituted idle speculation about a possible difference in Tony's private and public opinions on the matter of homosexuality. By nature, such speculation is unverifiable and therefore against Wikipedia guidelines - as well as potentially libellous. Tirian 20 September 2006 (UTC)

External sites

This list is getting inappropropriately long, while the actual article content stays the same. As of the latest addition, there are three different links to Eastern University: one for the whole school, one for a distinctive program associated with Campolo, and one for the MBA degree. At that point, I think it starts to seem like advertising.

Other links are not identified in any way that makes clear their relationship to the article's subject nor how the reader will be more informed on the topic by following the links. We need to label these and/or cut back on them. The article itself is still something of a stub, and I get the impression that people are simply turning it into a list of links (one of the biggies on the "What Wikipedia is not" page) rather than adding more substantial contributions to the article. As a reader, I'd rather see content, because then I can find the links on my own with a search engine. Lawikitejana 01:30, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

sources

I flagged this because it only gas two sources and both of them are in one section (LGBT debate) --Guerillero (talk) 21:31, 18 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Family

The reference to "adopted daughter" is confusing. It's an incomplete sentence, and gives the name and birthdate of someone only nine years younger than Campolo. I don't know what's correct, but Campolo's web site says he has two children. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.121.5.179 (talk) 04:50, 20 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
