What to do with a page with "difficult" reference structure

I would like to work on the page Augmentative and Alternative Communication but the reference structure is very odd As far as I can tell, I need to add a reference in the reference area, and then hand code using Cite error: There are <ref> tags on this page without content in them (see the help page). (in the main text) where I would like it to be inserted so it will show up as a "linked" note ( which then links back to the actual reference) This is a very cumbersome approach, and may explain why so little new information has been added to the page in the last year or two.

What happens in Wikipedia in these situations? Can I recreate the page as it "should" be done, and then nominate that the new page replace the old one? I don't want to change the information, I just want to get it to a stage where it can be edited more easily Thanks Dbm2psu (talk) 13:12, 5 July 2015 (UTC) David July 5, 2015[reply]

That article is already a Good Article, which means it already went through a structured review. So, before trying to re-invent it, I would raise this on the talk page of the article or look at the main authors of the article and talk to them as well. Otherwise, the reference structure is fairly standard on the more developed articles. Aboutmovies (talk) 20:16, 5 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Can you upload the logo for our company to replace the older one you uploaded in 2010?

Hi there,

My name is David, and I'm the webmaster for Acumed LLC, the company for which you uploaded a logo back in 2010.

Since then, at around 2013, we have a new logo that we would like to be reflected on our Wikipedia entry. However, I cannot replace or upload a new logo to the Acumed entry.

Would it be possible for you to do this? Or could you instruct me how? I'm very sorry to be a bother, but the logo image that's currently on the Acumed entry is now out-of-date and no longer represents our company, and I'd love to see it updated to the most current (that is now displayed prominently on all of our buildings here in Hillsboro!).

The current logo can be found here: http://www.acumed.net/profiles/acumed/themes/custom/resolution/logo.png

Or, if you'd like, I can point you to a much larger, high-resoltion version of the logo elsewhere.

Thank you so much for your help with this, Davidhollandacumed (talk) 22:28, 7 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Revert on Hillsboro Hops

What was your reason for making this rollback on Hillsboro Hops? To me, the IP's edits didn't seem to be vandalism. Conifer (talk) 07:43, 11 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

They were unexplained that including the improper removal of a comma, and the removal of context for the non-American readers. Does it meet everyone's definition of vandalism, no, and had there been an edit summary I would have undone instead of rolledback. Aboutmovies (talk) 07:50, 11 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
If it's good-faith, though, shouldn't you include an edit summary? Per WP:Rollback. Conifer (talk) 07:59, 11 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Updated images of buildings/facilities for the "Acumed" article

Hi,

This is David Holland, webmaster for Acumed, reaching out to you once again to see if you would be so kind as to upload the two images referenced below, that replace the current ones on the "Acumed" Wikipedia article showing our buildings:

Cornelius Pass Road ( http://images.acumed.net/facilities/Acumed-building-Cornelius-Pass-HQ.jpg ) Brookwood Parkway ( http://images.acumed.net/facilities/Acumed-building-Brookwood-Parkway-facility.jpg )

Thank you once again for your considerate help, David — Preceding unsigned comment added by Davidhollandacumed (talkcontribs) 23:42, 11 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for assessing the article for Wikiproject Law. I was wondering, since you assessed it C class, what areas you think it needs improvement in, and which of the B class criteria it fails? I'd like to know how to further improve the article. ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 14:17, 13 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The two issues are that the WP:LEDE should be expanded, and more importantly for me is there is too much reliance on WP:PRIMARY sources. If you review the United States Constitution, which is B class, I did not see any citations to the constitution itself in a quick look. A large portion of this article is sourced to the constitution itself. This is a very common problem in law articles as we attorneys think we are allowed to interpret what the cases and statutes say. Aboutmovies (talk) 17:29, 13 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, thank you. I'll work on expanding the lede. Not sure where to look for secondary sources that merely summarize the various provisions (which was what I was trying to do with the end part of the article). ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 18:37, 13 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Dan Butler

Sorry about the revert, when I saw the page it had a large amount of errors, I don't know if my browser freaked out or wiki had a template that was broken. Again, sorry about that. Red error text was all over the page, so leaning towards broken template. Esw01407 (talk)

No problem. Aboutmovies (talk) 20:01, 26 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This article looks pretty good to me. Do you have any interest in nominating it for Good status? If not, I can put it on my 'to do' list, but I already have five articles waiting for GA reviews. Also, apologies if I have already asked you this before. ---Another Believer (Talk) 23:08, 14 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Go ahead, I don't really have time for in-depth editing anymore, other than rare occasions. Aboutmovies (talk) 05:08, 15 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
OK, sounds good. I will be sure to note that I am nominating the article on your behalf, and may even include you as a co-nominator. This is simply to credit you as the article's primary contributor; need need to actually follow the GA review, unless you wish. Again, this may not be for quite some time, as I am currently waiting for several articles to be reviewed. ---Another Believer (Talk) 20:13, 15 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Kryptiq Changed Its Name to Enli Health Intelligence

Wanted to make you aware that Kryptiq has changed its name to "Enli Health Intelligence." The press release announcing the name change can be found here:

http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/kryptiq-becomes-enli-health-intelligence-300143757.html

Additionally, the principal line of business is no longer secure messaging software (the company no longer holds this within its product portfolio). Instead, Enli develops and sells population health IT (i.e. software that helps providers stratify populations, deliver care, and then coordinate care). With this, the company also packages advisory services that focus on transforming the primary care delivery model (adoption of care teams, integration of technology, etc.). The website, not yet fully built-out, can be found at www.enli.net.

I offer this as I believe you have offered the most commentary on Kryptiq historically. I hope this is looked upon as constructive--please feel free to re-point or redirect if warranted.

Thank you -

Classification of Kohei Shibata

Hi, I noticed that you have given the above article a "C". I was wondering what you think would be required to bring it up to a B class? Thanks, AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 07:00, 9 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Just wanted to say thanks! I find the information you provided in your welcome message much more useful because of its concise nature than the actual wikipedia welcome page itself. Go figure. For those who read this in the future:

Aboutmovie's much more useful welcome page - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:CodyHofstetter#Welcome (I linked to the message you sent me because it was readily available, but if you happen to have your welcome page somewhere that is updated more frequently please feel free to replace the link).

Thanks again!

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Susan Graber Article

The changes I've made all improve the accuracy and writing of the article. I'm not removing content that is "technically correct"--if I gave that impression previously then I misspoke.

  • The only content I removed from the article is an inaccurate reference to Judge Graber being a "U.S. District Court" judge prior to her appointment on the Oregon Court of Appeals. That statement is untrue and needs to be removed. (The reference is also not "sourced"; if you click on the link that's supposed to support that she was a district court judge, it takes you to an unavailable webpage).
  • The other changes are correcting grammatical errors or adding more information about her career.

If you see anything that is specifically a problem, please let me know and I'm happy to work with you to get it right.

Season's Greetings

Would you have a moment to look at "Category:People from Valatie, New York". I'm not quite sure how to fix it. Thanks. Magnolia677 (talk) 21:45, 22 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Why is it a C-class article and not higher? What did I not do that I should have done as far as factual accuracy or missing information goes? I'm trying to improve it so that it can become a Good Article, so can you help? Philmonte101 (talk) 06:37, 28 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I wasn't exactly offended. I just wanted to know if there's really something missing. Philmonte101 (talk) 06:43, 28 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
What I do are quick, first assessments. I skim the article quickly. In this case, I have heard and read about similar issues, such as Love Canal. As you can see by that B class article, there is simply more content (even if you were to limit it to the superfund issues). Aboutmovies (talk) 06:54, 28 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
You're the one with the law degree, and not me, which is why I'm the beta here. Can you tell me, what more is there to add? I felt when I was writing the article that if I wrote more information I'd just be inserting trivia that would confuse the readers. Philmonte101 (talk) 07:14, 28 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The Argus

Hi, AM. I noticed your edits to The Hillsboro Argus, giving news that I somehow missed. You're probably thinking about what to do with the articles on that paper and the Forest Grove Leader, after mid-January. Here's my two cents: Although one might be tempted to move The Hillsboro Argus to The Washington County Argus, I would argue that it makes more sense to start a new article, because moving the Hillsboro Argus would take a paper with a very long history and a relatively well-developed article and fold it into a new article while leaving the Forest Grove Leader – a paper with a relatively very short history – as a standalone article, which doesn't make sense to me. Thanks largely to your work, the two articles are relatively well-developed compared to most newspaper articles for mid-sized (or smaller) cities on Wikipedia. If they were stubs, I'd say just move one and merge the other, but they are not. Both deserved to remain as standalone articles that simply point to the new article about their successor, the Washington County Argus. Keeping the three separate would also allow better categorization. The new article would be very short initially, and might even have to be a redirect (to the Hillsboro Argus) initially, but we already have at least two articles from third-party sources: the Hillsboro Tribune one you cited and the (closely related) OPB story, so there should be enough to establish notability before long. WW will probably also cover it soon. I don't think I have enough interest to create that new article myself, but I figured you might be interested in my thoughts on this, considering that I'm one of the few other editors who has spent much time (in recent years) working on WP articles about Portland-area newspapers. Cheers. – SJ Morg (talk) 10:39, 28 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that the existing articles should maintain their integrity and a new article created for the new paper (sadly not surprising given the mismanagement of Advance since they bought the Argus). I actually first read about it in a Hillsboro Round-up, the last one according to the article, so we will have several sources to start with. I would be interested in writing the article, but I am too busy right now starting a business on the fly. I hope things will calm down by the end of next month, but who knows. Thanks. Aboutmovies (talk) 21:46, 30 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Aboutmovies. I see you have done some work on the Chrisopher Felver article. I have done quite a bit of editing/research on that article recently and believe it is quite objective at this point. I do not think the note about it being a possible autobiography is relevant anymore. Also, the issue of links to/from the article is being addressed. I'l like to get your input. Thank you - and Happy New Year!Ray Jameson (talk) 03:30, 5 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

My only involvement was adding a category and providing an initial assessment. Based on improvements to the article, I have upped it to a Start class article. Aboutmovies (talk) 06:14, 6 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Aboutmovies,

I am curious to find out why you removed external links on the Phoseon Technology page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phoseon_Technology). Could you please provide an explanation?

thanks, UVLED2U (talk) 15:47, 11 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The reason was left in the edit summary, which is to review WP:ELNO. I do not know if every single one of these "articles" was written by someone from Phoseon, but most were, meaning they would not be used as sources and thus would be links to be avoided. I will assume you have some sort of relationship with Phoseon and adding these was an attempt to market the company, which is something Wikipedia is not for. If these were links to legitimate media coverage of the company by third-party, independent sources, those would be fine. But not basically spam.
