DYK images
Happy that I could help! Though seems like I have shot myself in the foot - of all the images that come with my DYKes, I was hoping to see the Vedette on the front page the most. Life is brutal... :( Bravada, talk - 11:59, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks a lot :D I know I am shallow, I was just hoping to attract some more people to the article I am trying to develop, and the picture will surely draw some attention :D I was trying to intersperse my DYK nominations with other, especially picture-less DYKes :D I was quite surprised Vedette went first, I thought it would be the Catalina - my mischevious plan went up in smoke :D :D :D HAve a great new week, Bravada, talk - 12:15, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
A stealth contribution...
Congrats on your adminship! Saw the deleted comma, and am using it as an excuse to invite you to update DYK!! We need more updaters!! The instructions are quite straightforward, but it takes about 45 minutes of time to do it. Would be great if you could try your hand at it when you have some time. Cheers -- Samir धर्म 23:59, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
- Hey. Updates are every 6 hours and, while you can just change one or two if you want, usually the entire template is changed. The instructions at WP:DYK are a little sparse and I made many errors when I first started updating, but everyone helps out to fix them. -- Samir धर्म 00:20, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for fixing the template on Venus. One small thing -- it would be great if you could pick another fact about the same article as opposed to removing the article from DYK next time. Hope to see you updating DYK soon. Cheers -- Samir धर्म 05:25, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, that would have been better. At the time, though, I was just being quick to remove the article from the main page as it was actually incorrect information. I'll change the fact next time. —Mets501 (talk) 12:01, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

Venus
Hi, thanks for that. It looks like somebody's removed the article because 70 degrees or so isn't exactly like that on Earth, but it's not that exact. At around 50 - 55 kilometres or so is where the atmosphere is pretty much exactly the same as Earth, so there was no reason for that person to remove the article from the front. Is it possible to get the article restored and maybe just change it to 55 kilometres or so? Mithridates 16:29, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
- Oh, looks like it's been taken care of (Mets501 just wrote me back). I had phrased it such that it looked like the atmosphere was exactly the same when it's just the most similar in the Solar System. It should get put in the next refresh. Mithridates 18:42, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
User Bearly541
I'm sorry to bother you - if there's a more appropriate place for me to take this concern, please direct me. User:Bearly541 declared that he no longer wanted to be part of Wikipedia subsequent to your warning him about his apparently frivolous complaint at WP:AIV. He blanked both his user page and his user talk page (effectively deleting your warning and all previous warnings). However, he is back editing. So far, the edits appear constructive, so perhaps I should just ignore this and see what happens. It does concern me that he still has access to VandalProof howerer. What's you advice? Should I just assume good faith and ignore this or should at least the warnings be restored to Bearly's talk page? Thanks, Brian 16:30, 14 August 2006 (UTC)btball
- ok, thanks. Will do. Brian 21:14, 14 August 2006 (UTC)btball

Popularity
I have been popular, Samir. I spent all morning on WP:AIAV, and there was an AOL vandal who kept changing IP address. I still can't figure out how to keep on top - I had to keep checking the new users log page, monitor one or two frequently-vandalised articles, then update AIAV at the same time. It's a dual-monitor job! - Richardcavell 03:38, 15 August 2006 (UTC)

Deletion
How do you delete one version of a page from the history without deleting the article, as you did with User talk:65.95.151.166? Thanks. Tyrenius 17:28, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
Ta. No simple way then! Tyrenius 22:11, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
Thanks, I've fathomed it now. There was a history with a lot of entries and just 4 to delete - all those boxes to tick then? Tyrenius 22:22, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
I understand it may be in hand! Check your emails by the way. Tyrenius 22:25, 15 August 2006 (UTC)

I have deleted the material relating to this. Do not reinstate it. This is not an editing decision. It is removed to protect the Foundation. I am currently having dialogue with OFFICE over this matter. Contact me if you wish to discuss it. Thank you.
FYI - posted on article talk page and to concerned editors. Tyrenius 19:49, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
Ampulla of Vater
I have moved the Ampulla of Vater back to Hepatopancreatic ampulla for now so it will comply with the current anatomy standard of the Wikipedia Anatomy project. I agree that hepatopancreatic ampulla is not currently used as much as Vater in a clinical setting, but as you said, everyone is fleeing eponyms (for good reason), and in my medical school, only the old lecturers still use that stuff. I think most modern texts have eliminated eponyms (in anatomy). I welcome you to help come up with a policy for naming articles; currently, we (not many of us) use TA but we shy away from the really common names such as Fallopian tubes (i.e. those that have penetrated public knowledge). Perhaps if we can come up with some type of criteria for usage on Pubmed, we should change it back to Vater. Of course, we are always trying to recruit people for the Anatomy project Thanks. Regarding User:Quill E. Coyote and my user talk
As I didn't blank anything, despite the blanking template, can you kindly strike out the template on my usertalk? It's none too pleasant having a false vandalism template during a RfA, which I suspect is the point. -- Consumed Crustacean | Talk | 08:28, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

Thanks. I don't mind the tweaking at all. I wanted nominate the same line, but thought that would be a very long DYK. Looks great on the main page (*takes a screenshot*) - Aksi_great (talk - review me) 09:05, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
Some cake for you!
A CX for you!
Samir, I would like to say I am most surprised and unspeakably thankful for the WikiMedal! I certainly do not deserve it, but I treat it as an incentive - there has been very little hard work or effort on my side, but I will strive to improve on that :D
In the meantime, I would like to thank you not only for your unfaltering willingness to bring out the best of DYKes to the world, but also your patient and understanding treatment of DYK proponents like myself. I hope you will continue your benevolence towards automotive and Eurovision DYKes. Best regards, Bravada, talk - 12:15, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the suggestion. Actually I've decided that instead of the Colonization of Venus article that I should make atmosphere of Venus into a featured article because of the lack of content for the former. The subject of colonization hasn't been in the spotlight long enough and so there's not a great variety of references. On the other hand, there's a great deal of information on the atmosphere itself and Venus Express is gathering more information all the time so it should be easier. An easier subject to get approved for an FA too (more realistic/substantial) and there can be some notes in the article on feasability of colonization in the atmosphere so everybody wins. DYK Thanks
I was going to thank you a day or two ago about the DYK box. It was pretty nice knowing that I made an article that was featured on the front page (even if wasn't a 'featured article'...) Dark jedi requiem 20:24, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the compliment. Would you mind putting a notice on User talk:Lucy-marie as well? She was the actual creator of the article, and I wouldn't have come across it if she hadn't asked me to try expanding it. --Sam Blanning(talk) 12:33, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
Greetings! Today, you put Image:Ford Vedette Coupé 1950.jpg on {{Did you know}}. Unfortunately, this image is a "used with permission" image, and is not an acceptable license for Wikipedia. See WP:CSD#Images.2FMedia #3. It's a great image and a beautiful car, but unless it is licensed under a free license, we can't host it here, per directive of Jimbo (which is the basis for item #3 above). All the best, --Durin 13:01, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
