This is an old revision of this page, as edited by 174.23.111.247 (talk) at 07:13, 23 May 2016 (It's better that readers know that this guy corrected himself and asked the question about why the note about the legal name change wasn't made earlier.). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

Lead sentence

An editor has been edit warring over the first sentence (coming in under a new username moments after being blocked under the first) regarding how King's name should be expressed. See WP:BIRTHNAME for how we normally write the first sentence when the person has legally changed his or her name, as compared to a stage name or professional name. The article clearly says that King changed his name legally, so the correct expression is:

Larry King (born Lawrence Harvey Zeiger November 19, 1933) .

The talk page is here for discussion - edit warring, especially sockpuppeting - is not ok. Tvoz/talk 07:48, 22 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Please read and stop edit-warring. He legally changed his name - see WP:BIRTHNAME and dozens of examples across the encyclopedia. Tvoz/talk 07:52, 22 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, LEGALLY? Well then why didn't you say that at the very START? Oh my gosh!

YOU were edit-warring too, "buddy." If you expect someone else to be punished for warring, then you should expect that for yourself too. Remember, the rule about edit-warring includes a phrase like "even if you are right." So you should be blocked if you want me blocked; either that, or neither of us should be.

Before I noticed that Larry had legally changed his name, the MOS I was talking about is this one: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Biographies#Pseudonyms.2C_stage_names_and_common_names But since Larry is legally King (and I missed that in the article), then this MOS doesn't apply, of course. Sometimes I remember to search for "legal" in the body, but sometimes I forget.
