Welcome to my talk page. Click here to leave me a message.

If you have come here about a page I deleted, you will probably find the explanation here; if that does not answer your question, click the link just above to leave me a message. Please mention the name of the page, and sign your post with four "tilde" characters ~~~~ so that I know who you are.

If I have left a message on your talk page, please reply there; I am watching it.

If you leave a message here I will usually reply here, but if my reply contains advice I hope you will find useful, I may place it on your talk page. (Talk page stalkers: you are welcome; if you see no reply here, there is probably one on the other talk page; I have decided to stop making a note here when I reply there).

You may E-mail me via the "E-mail this user" link under "Toolbox" in the left-hand sidebar, but you will get a faster response here; I suggest you do not use e-mail unless you need privacy. I will normally reply on your talk page, not by e-mail.

G5 Speedy

Hi JohnCD. In regards to some of the G5's I've tagged, there are a ton more here [1], some useful, many pointless, if you want to have a go at them. Thanks! CrowCaw 17:14, 11 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I'll get to them presently. Someone has already used Special:Nuke, so they'll have to be done one by one (sigh). JohnCD (talk) 11:15, 12 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Acerase (talk) 10:18, 12 May 2016 (UTC) Thanks John! acerase[reply]

My pleasure. JohnCD (talk) 11:15, 12 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Incomplete RfD closure

There's an unclosed curly bracket and you haven't deleted the redirect. Let me know if I can help. ({{Ping}} me if you reply here.) Deryck C. 12:02, 12 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Deryck Chan:  Fixed, thanks! JohnCD (talk) 13:04, 12 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Bad

You deleted my page Johnny CD the bad Bollywood Hunter (talk) 12:56, 13 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Bollywood Hunter: yes, I did, because Wikipedia is not a place for people to write about themselves. Please read Wikipedia:Guidance for younger editors, and ask your parents to read it too. JohnCD (talk) 13:24, 13 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Stragile

John - Thank you for your reply and frankly your work on Wiki... I have long respected the integrity of the founders and not "cashing out".

I have to ask a a new contributor, why so many other books, movies and other media are allowed on the forum? Many, like mine, are defining new areas that tie old ones together... "Outliers" as an example. There are thousands of them. Please help me understand what seems like and un-level playing field?

Many thanks.

@Shjean333: an encyclopedia is not a place for announcing anything new. That is specifically excluded by our fundamental policy WP:No original research. We only report on things that have already attracted independent comment and discussion. Our test for inclusion is called Wikipedia:Notability and looks for references showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." The standard for books is explained at WP:Notability (books) and our approach to new words at WP:Wikipedia is not a dictionary#Neologisms.
Outliers (book) passes those tests; the article has over 20 references showing substantial independent reviews of the book. Worldcat (another check we use for books) shows over 3,700 library holdings.
Only after your book has been published and attracted independent reviews would it qualify for an article. Even then, it would be best to leave someone else to write it (see WP:COI). Similarly, the word would need to be not only in use but also the subject of independent discussion of the concept.
In summary: Wikipedia does not try to judge what is important or significant. We use a less subjective test, by asking what other people, independently, have found important or significant. JohnCD (talk) 14:01, 13 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you... good information. I will try and wait until this criteria is met. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shjean333 (talkcontribs) 00:06, 18 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Request for undeleting the article Reema Kumari

Hello,I understand what you want to say.But I like to tell You that this is not my biography. This is of a famous and inspirational girl of siwan district of bihar. Her article must be here as she would be an example for those children who have talents but they belong from poor or middle class family. So,I request you to undelete this article. Reema Kumari (25) (talk) 01:37, 20 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

It did not show Wikipedia:Notability, and now on your talk page you say that it is your biography. So, no, I will not undelete it. JohnCD (talk) 09:02, 20 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

IambakeyOkuk

What if his sons in Papua New Guinea ("His Estate") gave you authorization? They are scanning family photos for me now. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2606:6000:6457:F800:2D4E:C097:BF5:3EB (talk) 16:57, 23 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Image licensing is a difficult and complicated area. Copyright normally belongs to the person who took the photograph, not to the subject or to someone who has a copy. See the section "Copyright and licensing" of Wikipedia:Image use policy. Ask advice at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, explaining everything you know about the origin of the photos, particularly who took them and when. JohnCD (talk) 19:50, 23 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Bmnathaniel userpage

Thanks for welcoming me to Wikipedia. I will rewrite my user page. I think I'm supposed to follow Template:Infobox Wikipedia user for the infobox, am I right? nathanielmoikabi 08:10, 24 May 2016 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bmnathaniel (talkcontribs)
