    Thank you

I appreciate your noice. It is indeed common knowledge in Caersws but I'll ask my mum if she has a source. Ta! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.100.44.33 (talk) 00:16, 25 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If I give my mum's name, does that count? I realize that sounds silly but she is on the historic society for the village, and I imagine (and hope) that would carry some weight. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.100.44.33 (talk) 00:20, 25 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jim Excuse me if what I'm requesting is easy for some, but for me at 72 I'm struggling! I added an article to the page Mods & Rockers, and you have removed it temporarily, until I enter a reference/citation. I have attempted to find how to enter the details of my book on to Footnote, but I keep going round in circles. This is what I want to write, is this correct? Footnote: Stoddart, Colin (June 2016) 'Mods to Rockers' ISBN: 9781783019267 CHAP: 1,2 & 3 A) Is it OK to use CHAP: 1,2 & 3? b) If all OK and I copy, where or do I paste the details on the Mods & Rockers page, in the Footnote scetion? Thanks for you help. Regards Colin (Stoddart)

    Hello Jim

Just I need to remove project page and the page entitled the journal, I need Wikipedia to remove everythings what I edited and created.

    Thank you

    Blue Thunder

I see that you also undid my Blue Thunder edit. If this is going to keep happening that you are the Edit Police, then I will no longer contribute to any edits on Wikipedia. I hate sounding discouraged, but I spent time making the edit and to see it undone makes me feel like I shouldn't waste my valuable time making any more contributions. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mrmarkus (talkcontribs) 00:52, 21 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Mrmarkus: You can restore your edit.
Can't you hit the space-bar after you type a comma or period? And, can't you check your work? Should I exchange my "Edit Police" badge for a "Cleanup After Mrmarkus" badge? If you are going to leave a lot of typos on article pages, perhaps you shouldn't be editing here? Jim1138 (talk) 00:56, 21 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    Hi Jim1138 -

Yes, I intentionally made edits to the Baraka wiki page.

It did not seem to present a neutral viewpoint and was very biased, so I made a few edits. I also updated the wiki with more of his accomplishments. I noted that in the comments of my updates.

I do think a fairer reading of his accomplishments and work put in context would improve the page greatly.

    Seven Countries Study

Hi there: On the Seven Countries Page that I edited. This author, James DiN, has inserted his own work and is trying to take credit for research and work done by Gary Taubes and Nina Teicholz. James DiN is a pharmacist who has written several papers based on seminal work by Taubes and Teicholz. If you would like to confirm the role of Taubes and Teicholz, read this major piece in The Guardian.http://www.theguardian.com/society/2016/apr/07/the-sugar-conspiracy-robert-lustig-john-yudkin

Or, you might google their names and find the hundreds of new stories covering their work. The re-analysis of the 7 countries study was actually begun by an Italian scientist n the 1980s (I will enter her paper when I have time), then Taubes, and then Teicholz. These are the major contributions.

James diN has not done original work and should not be featured, or even mentioned, in this post.

Who are you? Why did you feel free to put my and my siblings marraige information on Wikipedia? What did my father ever do to you? It seems very personal on your part. You have a few facts wrong: my father's entire work history, when he retired not "left" the government and his employment dates. According to my father, Mrs Crosby rented the home across the street during the Saratoga Springs season.

Why the final snark about his claiming to have invented something? My father was in R&D for the army. He and his co-workers invented many things you will never know about since it was all classified.

At minimum, get my personal and my siblings info off the article. Don't use us to prove you know so much about us and our father that you can put our marraige years and spouses.

    Lambert Eaton Myastenic Syndrome

    Hi Jim

Thanks for the message re the amendment of the page on LEMS.

In relation to the amendment I made - I didn't notice any citation on the statement that LEMS usually abates after direct cancer treatment, although I know many articles mention it.

I have conversed with many neurologists and scientists who hold the opinion that the body would likely continue to stay in the pattern and continue to produce the antibodies even after successful cancer treatment. Or - that the LEMS may continue in a sort of 'mine sweeper' effect - continuing to look for problems.

I have LEMS and I run the largest online support group in the world with over 400 members. I had cancer 10 years ago which was successfully treatment and I still have LEMS. And, among the members in our group who have had cancer with their LEMS - there is not one among them whose LEMS has gone into remission after the cancer treatment/cure. This over a period of around 9 years within the group.

I suppose this could not be considered as a 'citation' but the data on the LEMS/Cancer remission is - in my own experience - and that of many others - inaccurate. And I worry that it could give people false hope. I did use the word 'may' in the interests of not making a definitive statement.

    false informaiton about King Long

    Hi, Jim

I just delete the information in Kinglong(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King_Long) : "In September 2016, China's Finance Ministry revealed that King Long and four other manufacturers were found to have committed subsidy fraud. King Long was fined for collecting government subsidies that were based on falsely reported manufacturing figures for electric buses.[4][5]"

Because it is a mistake, which would mislead other readers!!!

1、I can provide you China's Finance Ministry Offical Notic: http://www.mof.gov.cn/zhengwuxinxi/bulinggonggao/tongzhitonggao/201609/t20160908_2413434.htm

in this notice, it clearly noted the Higer Bus Co. Ltd.(which is also called King Long United Su zhou Automotive Industry Co., Ltd ) Chinese:金龙联合汽车工业(苏州)有限公司.is involved in subsidy fraud. NOT King Long United Automotive Industry Co., Ltd (Chinese: 厦门金龙联合汽车工业有限公司)

2、the Higer Bus Co. Ltd and King Long United Automotive Industry Co., Ltd is different and seperated companies.

Would you please delete this false information for King Long.Because it is unreal!!! and it can harm Kinglong company!

    Removal of content

Hi Jim, I am an employee of Allwinner Technology and in charge of our international marketing. The comments posted on wikipedia are the views of software developers who in the past have had issue with Allwinner. I do not share their view and there is no evidence that what they say is true but is their opinion and is stated on our wiki page as a way of damaging our company reputation. That is my reason for removal as I do not think it is fair or justified comment. We paid Linaro more than $100,000 and in return got very little. However I do not think that this information belongs on Linaro's wiki page do you? Please allow me to remove those comments.

    Dear Jim1138,

I was in the band Fuzzdolly that played O'Cayz in the mid & late 90s many times. The band has been defunct since 1998 and never had an internet presence. It was the pre-internet music days. I suppose the only reliable written source would be newspapers from Madison back then listing the shows or perhaps a review of one. I don't know of any online sources. 69.73.47.33 (talk) 12:18, 25 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not familiar with editing in Wikipedia to be honest

Jimi1138- Honestly, this page is constantly changed to discredit the artist as you can see when you compare my edits to the last edit before my own. This is libel by internet bullies who are vindictive and aggressive in their continue slander. Please advise how I may edit and if possible, because this is a continued issue, how to block others from editing, as they surely will sign in under a different name. Please and thanks, MaryLou913 (talk) 08:31, 26 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@MaryLou913: Thanks for the note here. The content would appear to be well sourced. I have asked an wp:administrator to review it. The question would seem to be whether the arrest history is wp:due. Please start a new section on talk:PSD (rapper) stating why it is malicious. Include the following to notify the admin and I: {{u|Jim1138}} {{u|Oshwah}}, sign your talk with ~~~~, then save it.
Next, restore your edit to PSD (rapper) and leave an wp:edit summary of "Removed malicious content as [[wp:undue]] - see talk page" (leave off the "nowiki" stuff). The administrator should review it in a day or two. Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 08:44, 26 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the heads up. Hi, i am proposing to delete the article. As I'm new to editing on Wiki, i am not not sure how to do this properly. From the content itself, Mr Warren did not seem to make any significant contribution to be worthy of a biography; he is merely doing his job as an editor at the Straits Times. There would be tens of thousands of people in Singapore who would be having their biographies on Wikipedia if we set the standard for mentioning this low. This is the reason I am proposing to delete the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mohann Jasturba (talkcontribs) 12:33, 27 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@IdealNewst: Besides removing information on with this edit, you removed a huge amount of information: 45,000 characters including numerous sections having nothing to do with your edit summary: deleted statistics concerning # of soldiers sent to war in MD...absolutely no sources to support numbers listed. This included the Baltimore port, Biotechnology, Defense contractors, Transportation, Roads, See also, External links, categories, and other sections. It appears you inadvertently deleted much more than you intended. It appears that someone added a few references on war.

I see what you mean! That's odd--I am not sure why so much content was deleted, but I suspect it has something to do with editing on mobile. That was definitely my mistake. But a number of my other edits were reverted that I don't think should have been. Namely, I added citations for information on the Chincoteague pony swim, the Federal court ruling concerning the suspension of habeas corpus, the location of Amish communities in MD, and the first Roman Catholic cathedral. Was there something wrong with these edits? IdealNewst (talk) 17:44, 2 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@IdealNewst: It's stored in the wp:page history here. I would suggest opening the page in two browser tabs. One the current version, and the second, the version with your citations. From your old version here, you can copy the citations to the current version here. Make sure you don't save the old version!
I just reverted the whole thing. I do wp:Recent changes patrol (RCP) and just undo bad edits. Of which, there are huge numbers. Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 00:31, 3 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    Antony Flew

Here is what I found on the guidelines page: The guideline in this page discusses the reliability of various types of sources. The policy on sourcing isWikipedia:Verifiability, which requires inline citations for any material challenged or likely to be challenged, and for all quotations. The policy is strictly applied to all material in the mainspace—articles, lists, and sections of articles—without exception, and in particular to biographies of living persons, which states:

Contentious material about living persons (or, in some cases, recently deceased) that is unsourced or poorly sourced—whether the material is negative, positive, neutral, or just questionable—should be removed immediately and without waiting for discussion.

    KSci (talk) 04:33, 3 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@KSci: Flew died over six years ago and is hardly "recently deceased". So, BLP arguments do not apply. The book you cited has been questioned as to being actually co-authored by Flew as he appeared to be suffering from dementia at the time. I left a link to the talk page archive on this. Discuss this on talk:Antony Flew. Please use an wp:RFC Thank you Jim1138 (talk) 05:00, 3 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    British vs American Spelling

If Wikipedia wants British spelling, why oh why does this usage come up with a red line indicating a spelling error? The general rule for editing articles and books is that either spelling is OK, as long as it is consistent within a single manuscript.

In the case of the Consumer Behaviour page- I just changed all the spelling to US for the sake of consistency and now you tell me that it should have been British all along! (Personally, I prefer British) But, if I change it all back again, what are the chances that someone else will come along and ask for US spellings? Does Wikipedia have a house style? If so, where is it and why is it not more accessible?

There are so many problems with the Consumer Behaviour Page- conceptual problems, errors of fact, errors of interpretation/ overly narrow interpretations, excessive levels of repetitions, lack of references for key terms and concepts, long irrelevant sections, long sections that lack focus, poorly written prose (to the point where it is almost indeciperable in some places), very loose or wordy passages that add no real value, poor organisation of the entire page, poorly selected examples, different spellings and different hyphenation (decision -maker vs decisionmaker (or even decision maker) or psycho-social vs psychosocial).

I am slowly trying to work my way through this page, as I have some expertise in the area, but some of the problems are so fundamental that they are impossible or difficult to rectify. Other passages defy comprehension so that it is impossible to clean them up. To be honest whether to use behaviour vs behavior is probably the least of my concerns at this stage. I am more concerned with the accuracy and usefulness of the content on that page.

    BronHiggs (talk) 06:04, 5 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@BronHiggs: That is your browser's spell checker. If you were in London, your browser would probably underline "behavior" instead of "behaviour" in red. Probably, if you right click on "behaviour", you will get a list of suggestions. There is probably an "add to dictionary" there somewhere. Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 06:57, 5 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

"Evidence of a settlement of people with burial practices similar to that found in the Tamil Nadu region in India and further North was excavated at megalithic burial sites at Pomparippu in the western coast and in Kathiraveli in the eastern coast. These are dated between 2nd century BC and 2nd century AD." This is a completely misleading comment. My apologies didn't realize a edit summary was necessary.

It's a beautiful holiday and the wiki needn't be marred by statements of execution or life in prison for releasing a lantern. It not true, citation 5 describes the governor of bangkok stating "Those who do not abide by the law are subjected to an imprisonment of up to three months, or a fine not exceeding 6,000 baht, or both" this is in reference to releasing lanterns near the airport. What I removed was from Reference six and was a controversial, inflammatory, click bait article quoting the maximum sentence for damaging an aircraft in flight. please remove it :)

It might be best to ask at the wp:teahouse. See WP:CC BY-SA which is the normal license used. There are several types of licenses which are acceptable. The licenses are essentially public domain with attribution (not quite - read the license info) If you created the data, it would be credited to you. If the file is someone else's, you would need to provide proof that you have permission to upload it. I would recommend that you get an wp:account. This makes it easier to upload, get attribution, and communicate. I am no means an expert in this area, so I would suggest the teahouse for more precise info. Hope this helps. I've been attempting to correct a misconception about Omarosa that goes unchecked on many web sites: that she has a PhD. According to the ProQuest Dissertations and Theses database, she hasn't completed and defended a dissertation, which means that she doesn't have a PhD. But whenever I attempt to edit the Omarosa entry to reflect this fact, my edits are ignored. What gives?  :-) 24.252.246.56 (talk) 04:13, 11 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Huh? Are you the same person who made this edit? It appears that the editor is concluding that since they can't find a record of a successful dissertation that there is no PhD. That would be wp:synth. Synthesis is not allowed on Wikipedia. Find a wp:reliable source that states she has not completed her PhD. As this is a wp:BLP, the source's reliability must be of high quality. Jim1138 (talk) 04:20, 11 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    Tigrayans

    Hello Jim1138.

I made several edits about the Tigrayans86.89.46.70 (talk) 07:00, 11 October 2016 (UTC) , especially about the notable people section There are Aksumite kings included even though Aksumites86.89.46.70 (talk) 07:00, 11 October 2016 (UTC) was the proto ancestors of several Ethiopian & Eritrean ethnic groups and they spoke Ge'ez a now extinct language. So it's not accurate from a linguistic point of view to include Aksumite kings into the Tigrayans. Amhara people

Hello Jim, i saw the Amhara article, I don't know how it quite works with all the editing, but thank you for your patience.

I saw several mistakes in the Amhara people article. I was most horrified when i read the so-called validity of ethnic group status we are an ancient people who contributed a lot in the history of the Horn of Africa. I plead you to remove that section, it only offends people, it's like being denied or questioned of your identity. That source of Takkele Tadesse is no where to be found, neither is the professor. It's not only a questionable source, but also demeaning for over 25 million of ethnic Amhara's.

As for Haile Selassie he is included in the Oromo people when only his wife the empress is of Oromo descent. Haile Selassie spoke only Amharic and his father Makonnen Wolde Mikael is from the town of Ankober in the Amhara region.

I really don't like all these misinformation about my country. I will figure out how to include sources in them, but i would like Wikipedia to stop demeaning my people, we are the second largest ethnic group in Ethiopia, and that section with that very questionable source that question the validity of ethnic group status is insulting, humilating and very demeaning against proud people. If you have doubt whether we are a valid ethnic group, then Jim i would like to invite you to visit Ethiopia and see our people and culture.

I hope you understand why i needed to do those edits, thank you for your patience sir!86.89.46.70 (talk) 19:38, 11 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

    Changes on St. John Maron

Yes, Jim I removed that material because it was 1) irrelevant to the topic section which was on the St. John Maron's elevation to Patriarch 2) extremely controversial and impossible to defend on historical grounds for the reasons why see the wiki page on the Mardaites (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mardaites) and 3) confused a couple of facts making what was being asserted not only on a topic that was irrelevant, contentious and speculative but also unclear. I think I will return in the future to clean up all the sections and fill them out. However, I thought, at least, for the time being that I would remove the problematic content. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2605:6000:ED47:AF00:B8A6:46B4:30CE:D595 (talk) 21:16, 11 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, Jim I removed that material for the following reasons: 1) it was irrelevant to the topic section in which it was posted, which was on St. John Maron's elevation to Patriarch, 2) was controversial speculative and contentious, as well as being impossible to defend on historical grounds, for the reasons why see the wiki page on the Mardaites (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mardaites) and 3) confused a couple of facts making what was being asserted not only irrelevant, contentious and speculative but also simply unclear. I think I will return in the future to clean up all the sections and fill out the whole article. However, I thought, at least, for the time being that I would remove the problematic content.

P.S. I also made changes to the section above it (St. John Maron's early life), deleting the last couple of sentences. I did this because 1) it was inaccurate (until St. John Maron became its first Patriarch there was no Maronite church and 2) outside of any factual errors the general content of the information was actually the subject of the next section on St. John Maron's elevation to the status of Patriarch, so the errors of fact aside it was also redundant.

Basically my changes amounted to simplifying the sections while removing irrelevant, contentious, unsupported, redundant or ambiguous information. This whole page could use some work which as I suggested I hope to be able to do in the upcoming weeks... It also seemed clear that the information I removed were later additions to the article which were added, ostensibly, for polemical reasons. So I would further suggest that if future authors would like to introduce any controversies then another section be added that deals specifically with the various positions that have been taken on questions of Orthodoxy of the early Maronite community.

P.S.S Sorry to keep editing this but there is one additional justification for my edits I would like to make. Basically the material I removed in both sections were in blatant contradiction. So outside of all the problems I've mentioned above if there material was deleted then a lot of new material would have to have been added explaining the contradiction between the two sections, which in effect would constitute the controversy section I just mentioned. As it stood the section on St. John Maron's early life defended his Orthodoxy while the extraneous information in the section on his Patriarchy contradicted all the assertions of the previous section. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2605:6000:ED47:AF00:B8A6:46B4:30CE:D595 (talk) 22:06, 11 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
