INSOFE is an applied engineering school with area of focus in Data Science/Big Data Analytics. It is located in Hyderabad in the state of Telangana, and Bengaluru in the state of Karnataka. It opened its doors in 2011. The program is delivered through classroom sessions and is suitable for students and working professionals.
History
Dr. Dakshinamurthy V Kolluru, Dr. Sridhar Pappu and A S L Ganapathi Kumar started the institution in Hyderabad in mid-2011 and expanded to Bengaluru in early-2016. Initially the school functioned under mentorship of Dr. Dakshinamurthy, a Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon University and an NIT Trichy alumni, Dr. Sridhar, a Ph.D. from University of Texas at El Paso and an NIT Trichy alumni, and Dr. Sreerama Murthy, a Ph.D. from John Hopkins University and an NIT Allahabad alumni. They are now supported by a team of additional mentors and data scientists.
The first cohort commenced in mid-2011 with 12 students. INSOFE has since trained over 2000 students from across the globe. In 2013, INSOFE also started corporate training services. It extended operations to Bengaluru in 2016.
Program
Within the field of Applied Engineering, INSOFE's primary focus is on big data analytics, training students in both the engineering and the business aspects of analytics. The quality of content, pedagogy and assessment of INSOFE's CPEE Program is certified by the Language Technologies Institute at Carnegie Mellon University.
INSOFE has entered into collaborative agreements with US Universities (Bowling Green State University,[1] Drexel University and Benedictine University) to offer graduate programs in Data Science/Business Analytics/Big Data Analytics.

INSOFE’s program is the only one from Asia with such certification.
Industry
INSOFE is working in collaboration with Soothsayer Pvt. Ltd to help build a strong center of excellence in data science. Together they delivered projects for Abercrombie & Fitch, Worthington Steels, Preferred Meals, Dunn & Bradstreet etc. In collaboration with iCube, INSOFE developed Intuceo, a business user interface which simplifies complex data and hands the analytics to the business user for easy use. Intuceo platform is used by several clients to study deeply hidden patterns, analyze and find optimal strategic actions even at very high dimensions.

Dr. DAKSHINAMURTHY V KOLLURU

Dr. Dakshinamurthy is rated amongst the top 10 academicians in Analytics in India by Analytics India Magazine and has an M.S. and Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon University, USA and B.E. from NIT, Trichy. He offered consulting services to numerous fortune 50 companies from Pharma, Insurance, retail and manufacturing sectors. Dr. Murthy supports several start-ups by helping them build Centers of Excellence in Data Science.
He has worked in the field of data science, since 1999, with majority of his work pertaining to, but not limited to mathematical algorithms.
At INSOFE, Dr. Dakshinamurthy and his team, offer training in Big Data Analytics and Optimization. In addition to that, he is also involved in executive training programs. Dr. Murthy has been invited to train their in-house employees on Big Data Analytics by companies such as Vistacon (Johnson and Johnson), Abercrombie & Fitch, Microsoft, HP, Philips, Honeywell, D E Shaw & Co, TATA Steel, Tata Metallic, Idea Cellular, Broadridge Financial Services, ZS Associates and others in USA, UK, India & Middle East. Dr. SRIDHAR PAPPU
Executive VP – Academics
Dr. Sridhar Pappu, co-founded INSOFE along with Dr. Dakshinamurthy.V.Kolluru. He is an academician and has an M.S. and a Ph.D from The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) and B.E. from NIT, Trichy. He is also Six Sigma Black Belt Trained from Indian Statistical Institute, Hyderabad. He worked in diverse fields ranging from the IT industry in Silicon Valley, IT-start-ups, web start-ups and also Indian Defence Establishment. In addition to 13 years of industry experience, he has 30+ publications in various International journals and conference proceedings.
At INSOFE, as an Executive VP of Academics, Dr. Sridhar Pappu is involved in academic administration of the institute, strategic academic planning and developing program roadmap.
Prior to co-founding INSOFE, he worked on multi-million-dollar semiconductor fab automation projects for various customers in USA, Europe and Asia that included IBM, Seagate, TDK Group, LSI Logic and National Semiconductor. And at a later point, Dr. Sridhar worked on computer simulation programs aimed at improving tank armor for current and future threats for the Indian Defence labs.
Dr. SURYAPRAKASH KOMPALLI
Senior Mentor
He has an M.S. and Ph.D. from SUNY Buffalo and B.E. from the University of Mumbai. In the prime stage of his career, he worked with Mircosoft, HP Labs, University at Buffalo and Wayne State University. He has 7 US Patents and has over 20 journals and conference papers.
Suryaprakash Kompalli (SP) has co-founded two startups: Anova Research and Maxerience. He conducts research in Image Processing and Pattern Recognition, with experience in several industrial, medical and commercial applications. At INSOFE, as a senior mentor, he brings to the table, his expertise in applied machine learning backed by his extensive contribution in the fields of in consumer analytics, medical image processing, mobile phone software, HCI, and software engineering.
Dr. SREERAMA K MURTHY
Senior Mentor
Dr. Sreerama Murthy holds a PhD with specialization in Data Mining and Machine Learning from Johns Hopkins University, prior to which he completed his masters from IIT-Madras and Bachelor of Technology from NIT Allahabad. Dr. Sreerama Murthy holds 8 patents in USA in the area of Data Science.
He worked with Siemens Corporate Research, IBM and National Center for Software Technology.
Placement Services
The placement department of INSOFE connects and contacts the HR department of companies to assist students find placement after graduation. INSOFE students found employment in companies like Rolls Royce(UK), Apple(Cupertino), Twitter(Singapore), McKinsey(India), AC Nielsen, ZS Associates, Philips, Novartis, UHG etc.
Scholarships & Internships
Students are eligible for full fee scholarship based on their performance in the entrance test and during the program. In addition to this, INSOFE students have an opportunity of paid internship, where they get to work on real-time industry projects under the guidance of data scientists and earn monthly stipend. The opportunities include product, R & D and consulting based projects.
Education Loan
Students looking to pursue the data analytics and optimization program at INSOFE can avail an education loan from HDFC Credila bank, subject to meeting their loan eligibility requirements.

Consulting Projects
INSOFE works with global clients on their consulting projects. Some of such projects are:
Bahrain Economic Development Board:
INSOFE is currently working on one such project, which is in collaboration with Bahrain Economic Development Board, to study the economic impact of infrastructure projects, analyze the importance and effect of foreign firms and FDI on development of domestic firms in various sectors which in turn contributes to Bahrain’s GDP.
Entity Extraction to Identify different types of findings from medical report for Philips:
INSOFE is working in collaboration with Philips to identify the anatomy, location and findings of a problem from radiologist reports. Looking at radiology text, the aim is to identify the findings - relevant, critical and normal findings. To identify these findings, text mining is used along with open source medical dictionaries available online. After literature survey, current state is analyzed using Convolution Neural Network and Conditional Random Field to identify relevant findings. Along with relevant findings, certain other critical findings can be identified in the process. Techniques like Convolution Neural Network, Recurrent Neural Network, Conditional Random Field, Probabilistic Graphical Models and others are used for this process in addition to Open Source medical dictionaries which are used to categorize the findings.
To analyze retail sales for a steel manufacturer:
INSOFE worked with a steel manufacturer in India to analyze problem areas such as stagnation in retail sales growth due to external factors like competition and unsupportable macro environment. Key parameters driving dealer performance were identified to increase market share, through daily performance data analysis, data quality checks and several other factors.
To analyze rate projections for retailer:
For this project, INSOFE analysed the Ship From Store (SFS) data to provide actionable insights through historical patterns, future projections and optimization engine. Future pick rate projections were generated segment wise and store performance score was calculated to take required actions at store level.
