He played with the Rookie Arizona League Athletics, Class A Beloit Snappers, and Double-A Midland RockHounds in 2014. His entire 2015 season was spent with the Class A-Advanced Stockton Ports. Chapman was invited to major league Spring Training with the Athletics in 2016. He began the season with Double-A Midland, and was promoted to the Triple-A Nashville Sounds in August. He was selected as the Texas League Player of the Year for 2016.[5] He finished the 2016 season batting .237 with 36 home runs and 96 RBI's.[6][7][8] Chapman started the 2017 season playing for Triple-A Nashville.[9] He suffered a wrist injury on a check swing in the first series of the season and spent two weeks on the disabled list.[10]

Chapman was promoted to the Athletics on June 15, 2017, to make his major league debut that night.[11]
