Kuu Kuu Harajuku (originally titled KooKoo Harajuku[2]) is an animated children's television series created by Gwen Stefani for Network Ten,[4] based on her Harajuku Lovers brand. The series debuted on Eleven in Australia on November 1, 2015.[5] Kuu Kuu Harajuku is produced by Title Entertainment Inc. and DHX Media in Canada, Vision Animation in Malaysia, Moody Street Productions in Australia, and Red Flags Fly in the United States. Season 2 of the series is currently in production, and season 3 is in pre-production.[6]

Plot

Kuu Kuu Harajuku features G and the Harajuku Girls as they live in Harajuku. They form a band together, HJ5, but something always interrupts their gigs.

Characters

Main characters

  • G (voiced by Maggie Chretien) is the leader of HJ5. She keeps her band together, and is not afraid of any challenge. G's representation colors are white, black, and aqua, and she represents bows.
  • Love (voiced by Daisy Masterman) is the genius of HJ5. She often comes up with inventions, though some of them backfire. Love's representation color is red, and she represents hearts.
  • Angel (voiced by Emma Taylor-Isherwood) is the resident fashionista of HJ5. She loves kawaii fashions and trends, and can cheer others with her jokes. Angel's representation colors are yellow and blue, and she represents stars.
  • Music (voiced by Sally Taylor-Isherwood) is the active tomboy of HJ5. She is a sassy and fierce force of the band, as well as an exceptional fighter. Music's representation color is purple, and she represents musical notes.
  • Baby (voiced by Charlotte Nicdao) is the sweetest member of HJ5. She adores everything that she thinks is cute, and also loves to give hugs. Baby's representation color is pink, and she represents cuteness.
  • Rudolph "Rudie" Rhodes (voiced by Danny Smith) is the manager of HJ5. His back luck tends to get him and the others in trouble, but he deeply cares about their safety. He wears checkered-themed clothes.

Broadcast

Kuu Kuu Harajuku debuted on Eleven in Australia on November 1, 2015,[5] and later premiered on ABC Me on December 6, 2016.[23] In the United States, the series premiered on Nickelodeon on October 3.[24] Later, it was moved to Nick Jr. on February 3, 2017.[25] The series also aired on Family Channel in Canada on November 1, 2016.[26]

Home media
