Geneva Water Hub and Global High-Level Panel on Water and Peace

Thanks very much Pam for very complete suggestions and help. Even if I am part of the Geneva Water Hub team, I am trying to complete these two pages with a total independent view. I could not suggest any modifications to these pages as they were not existing. I am having issues with the French translation of these pages, Geneva Water Hub and Global High-Level Panel on Water and Peace. I cannot "continu" or "delete" the already existing ones (1 month and 2 months old) which do not match the English version now. Could I ask you for your help on this ? Thanks very much.

Please reply on my talk Page User talk:Stephankluser

  • @Stephanekluser: Please learn how to sign your posts on talk pages as I advised last Thursday. If you cannot be bothered to abide by the standard practices of Wikipedia editing, other editors are unlikely to offer to help you in your paid role of "Communications officer".
Note also that I say on this talk page that I will reply here to discussions started here, so that I, you, and any other readers can see the full dialogue. My use of the {{ping}} template means that you should be getting an "Alert" to tell you that you are mentioned here so that you can find this reply.
And please take the trouble to spell your own username right to make it easier for other editors to find your talk page. Aren't Communications Officers supposed to be the ones who do the proof-reading etc for their colleagues?
I have nothing to do with French Wikipedia, but there are often articles on different Wikipedias which do not exactly match as they have been independently created by different editors. PamD 08:38, 17 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Stephanekluser: Apologies, the message on my page used to say "I will reply on this page unless you ask me to reply elsewhere.", so you were quite reasonable to ask me to reply on your talk page (though providing a link would have been useful). But I have now modified the message to make it clear that I will reply here unless there's a good reason to reply elsewhere - it makes life so much easier for everyone concerned. Thanks. • @PamD: The top left icon on our website banner changes depending on the language. The official logo can be found on the last page of our flyer at www.genevawaterhub.org/scald/pdf/render/588?width=900&height=600&iframe=true. Is there a way to change the wikicommons logo as an "organisation logo" after having uploaded it, now. Thanks. Stephanekluser (talk) 12:21, 17 July 2017 (UTC)Stephanekluser[reply]
You could upload the logo again under a new name, copying it from an official source ... but that would involve cropping the image at either http://www.genevawaterhub.org/scald/pdf/render/588?width=900&height=600&iframe=true (but there's a date top right which would need to be edited out) or http://www.geneve-int.ch/geneva-water-hub-0 (not sure the resolution is good enough there). Then use that image in the article - the old copy will become an "orphaned non-fair use image" and be deleted eventually. If it was just a matter of copying a logo image file from your organisation's website I'd have done it by now, helpfully, but I'm not going to get involved in all the work of trying to sort it out from either of those sources. To be honest there's no clear evidence that the version with curved lines is the official logo, it occurs so rarely. PamD 14:27, 17 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Draft: Gordon Griffin

Pam - can I trespass on your kindness and ask if you would glance again at Draft: Gordon Griffin? I really feel I have done as much as I ever can to bring this article up to standard, and that the Draft - largely thanks to you - is more Wiki-observant than some which are online. Unless there is something I have missed?? I have improved the links again and again. I'd be so grateful. Very best - Roger — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rogersansom (talkcontribs) 13:10, 18 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Subsequent to above

Seeing your wording - I'll check here for any response. Rogersansom (talk) 14:05, 18 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Rogersansom: You really do need to get accustomed to using talk pages, as that's how Wikipedia works! Glad to see that you worked out how to sign your message this time. On the draft: could you add page numbers to your book sources, refs 6,7,8 (I've also enhanced them by using the {{ISBN}} template which makes the ISBN into a link to further sources which verify the book's existence and show its presence in libraries etc). I think the external sources I added on 6 July are sufficient to demonstrate notability. In fact, as any editor can move a draft into article space, I shall now do so. Then fingers crossed that other editors don't disagree with my judgement. I'll be away for a week from tomorrow with only mobile phone (ie very restricted, on mine anyway) editing capability. PamD 14:20, 18 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Rogersansom: And another thought: Can you find a Reliable Source with a bit more info about "Mind the Gap"? He doesn't get a mention in the article Mind the gap. If you can find a good source, you could add his name to that article as well as better supporting the info in this one. PamD 14:52, 18 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

My most grateful thanks, Pam. I'll get to work on your suggestions. I much appreciate everything. If you're away for a holiday, have a great one. Sincerely Rogersansom (talk) 15:26, 18 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Time

I think the time UserBox you have is a few minutes ahead and one hour behind. Isn't it about 5:34/17:34? Dinah In Wonderland 16:34, 3 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry I meant 16:36 Dinah In Wonderland 16:36, 3 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Dinah Kirkland: Looks OK to me - userbox currently saying approx 10:00pm, and my computer says 22:02. PamD 21:03, 3 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
