When did he stop working in the bank?

The BBC article we're using as a source suggests that in 1982 he gave up being a bank worker to commentate on Division 2 football about 40 Saturdays a week - but doing that wasn't a full time job in those days (and maybe isn't even now). He came to visit our school (Rye Hills, Redcar) representing his bank some time in the 1989-1994 period so he was still there then. He did mention, I think before being asked, that 'yes I'm the same Alistair Brownlee who commentates on the radio' I think probably he wanted to get that out of the way at the start. IIRC it was Barclay's but it would be nice to have a source for that.
