ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open!

Hello, Heyyouoverthere. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

March Madness 2017

G'day all, please be advised that throughout March 2017 the Military history Wikiproject is running its March Madness drive. This is a backlog drive that is focused on several key areas:

  • tagging and assessing articles that fall within the project's scope
  • updating the project's currently listed A-class articles to ensure their ongoing compliance with the listed criteria
  • creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various task force pages or other lists of missing articles.

As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.

The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the military history scope will be considered eligible. More information can be found here for those that are interested, and members can sign up as participants at that page also.

The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 March and runs until 23:59 UTC on 31 March 2017, so please sign up now.

For the Milhist co-ordinators. Regards, AustralianRupert (talk) & MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 07:24, 26 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Welcome, and thank you for your attempt to lighten up Wikipedia. However, this is an encyclopedia and articles are intended to be serious, so please don't make joke edits, as you did to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Reactions to the 2017 Barcelona attack. Readers looking for accurate information will not find them amusing. If you'd like to experiment with editing, please use the sandbox instead, where you are given a certain degree of freedom in what you write. BLP and BDP and Discretionary Sanctions notices

Regarding your edits on Talk:Unite the Right rally , note that WP:BLP applies to recently dead people as well (WP:BDP). BLP/BDP applies to all pages on Wikipedia, including article talk pages. Do not make conjectures, insults, or other demeaning statements about people, living or recently dead. The following are two notices related to topics covered by Unite the Right rally.

Posts like this are inappropriate. [1]. Don't do that. I also corrected another page where you turned 3rd into 3d. Legacypac (talk) 21:17, 22 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah no. Visit your talk page where I wrote about 3rd/3d and pop on down to Fort Hood when you get a chance. Heyyouoverthere (talk) 22:00, 22 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

-- LOL Side note, I noticed that Legacypac was nice enough to delete my notice on his talk page about this. After further review, it seems that he only followed me to the Fort Hood page in a vendetta and not in "good faith" Heyyouoverthere (talk) 10:34, 26 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Removing a use talk page notice is ok, we treat it as acknowledging that you have read it. Just as I assume you read the notice about the appropriate use of article talk pages. New users often assume, mistakenly, that they can discuss the subject of the article on the talk page. Doug Weller talk 12:03, 26 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I love forums. I love lamp. Heyyouoverthere (talk) 14:44, 26 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
When noticing one hinky edit it is customary to check some other edits to see if there is a pattern of problematic edits. No "vendetta". Legacypac (talk) 15:43, 26 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I take it you never served? There are a lot of messed things in the Army besides spelling. Formation at 6AM? Better be there at 5AM or earlier. No. Be in the parking lot by 4:30AM, else you will still be in line to get through the main gate. Forced fun Fridays? Piss tests? No wait...those can be funny. Heyyouoverthere (talk) 16:39, 26 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The more I think about it, the more it seems that Legacypac was indeed following and reverting my edits in a bad faith motive with little regard to the actual article material. Heyyouoverthere (talk) 04:41, 15 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
