Is there justification for this article?

I understand, obviously, that the political situation around Jerusalem is complicated, but in practical terms - is there really any justification for having this article? It is unreferenced by itself. Of course, references could be found, but everything that it says is repeated in the main article about Jerusalem. The articles in Czech and Hebrew say more or less the same thing as this article in English. The term "West Jerusalem" is used sometimes, but much less than "East Jerusalem". So is this article really needed? --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 11:51, 25 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

We could also cover everything on the East Jerusalem on Jerusalem. West Jerusalem is worthy of it's own article. This article needs alot of work, but it's a start. In the meantime readers can use the link to the Jerusalem article to find out more about W. Jerusalem Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talk) 11:59, 25 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
That's the point - I don't see any way to continue this start. --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 16:54, 25 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
This article is justified by the fact that West Jerusalem is in Israel and East Jerusalem is in the occupied territories.

That is not a justification for this article by itself. The controversy about the occupation East Jerusalem exists, of course, but you can write about it in the articles Jerusalem, East Jerusalem, Positions on Jerusalem, etc. But there's just nothing of significance to write in this article. --Amir E. Ideas for expansion

Comment hived off from "Is There Justification" section

Jewish West Jerusalem deserves an article as a conurbation and community in its own right, detailing its evolution out of the "Jewish Colony" at the time of the New Yishuv into the sprawling, overwhelmingly Jewish metropolis that exists today. If anything, this article could do with a lot of expansion. 2.24.71.58 (talk) 20:45, 10 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

List of Ideas

In light of the above comment, I will jot down here some ideas for further content which can be summarised from other articles:

  • history of development of Jewish neighbourhoods outside the Old City walls:
  • construction of Yemin Moshe and Mea Shearim
  • the "Jewish Colony" in Jerusalem 1920s-1940s
  • post-1948 expansion to cover other areas such as the German colony and expansion of the conurbation out into the countryside
  • Main commercial/social hubs of West Jerusalem:

I will add more ideas to this list as I have them, and invite other wiki editors to contribute suggestions. 2.24.71.58 (talk) 19:09, 16 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Extended-confirmed-protected edit request on 9 April 2017

In the "Division in 1949" section, it states that East Jerusalem was populated mainly by Muslims and Christians. This should mention that all of East Jerusalem's Jews were expelled (cf. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/East_Jerusalem#Jordanian_rule). ZackTheCardshark (talk) 21:27, 9 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

"A number of western countries such as the United Kingdom acknowledge de facto Israeli authority, but withhold de jure recognition"

Which other ones? A list is in order. 62.190.148.115 (talk) 12:15, 11 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
