Precious Hearts Romances Presents: Araw Gabi (Lit: Day Night) is a 2018 Philippine drama television series under Precious Hearts Romances based on the Filipino pocket book novel El Paraiso by Martha Cecilia, starring JM de Guzman and Barbie Imperial.[1][2][3][4][5] The series premiered on ABS-CBN's Kapamilya Gold afternoon block and worldwide via The Filipino Channel from April 30, 2018 to October 12, 2018, replacing Hanggang Saan.

It is the 18th installment of the Precious Hearts Romances Presents series, six years after Paraiso in 2012. The network decided to reboot the franchise under RSB Unit.

The drama is JM de Guzman's fifth appearance and his first lead role in the Precious Hearts Romances Presents after having played supporting roles in The Substitute Bride, Midnight Phantom, Kristine, and Alyna. The drama is also Barbie Imperial's first lead role; she previously appeared with de Guzman on All of Me in 2015.

Synopsis

Mich, an aspiring lass with a sunny disposition in life, meets Adrian, the ill-tempered CEO of Olvidar Group of Companies. Despite Adrian having an evil reputation, Mich still believes that Adrian is not like what the others think. Subsequently, Mich travels to El Paraiso and learns further not just about Adrian's secrets but also about her true identity and the certain lighthouse she's been dreaming of.

  • JM de Guzman as Adrian Olvidar[6] – The main protagonist of the series. Brave, handsome and poised, initially having an intense arrogant and cold-blooded behavior towards people especially Mich, but later he develops feelings for her. People thinks that Adrian is an evil person who raped and killed Mich's mother but it was revealed that the gossip was false and that the real murderer was Celestina. As the series go on, Adrian endures all the chaos and conflict happening in his life but stays brave and tough. In the end, he and Mich was kidnapped by Celestine who was posing as Odessa and he eventually defeats the evil woman and marries Mich.
  • Barbie Imperial as Michelle "Mich" Verano / Anna Vida de Alegre[6] – The female protagonist of the series. Simple and beautiful, she was initially irritated at Adrian's arrogant behavior and became cold at him also. But the two developed feelings in each other and their friendly relationship turned into a lover relationship. Like Adrian, Mich also endured the villains evilness, she and Tanya always fight. Despite the struggles and hardships enters her life, she stays strong-willed and has the ability to fight the opposers. In the end, she was kidnapped by Celestina along with Adrian, after the fight, she survived the torture and happily marries Adrian.

Supporting cast

  • Rita Avila as Odessa Olvidar / Celestina de Alegre[7] – As: Odessa, she is the supporting antagonist-turned-protagonist in the middle of the episode. Initially she strongly disagree in Adrian and Mich's relationship and tries at many times to split them. She is also quick-witted and cruel towards Mich but eventually betrays Celestina and joins the good side in the middle of the series. She helps Harriet and Mich to get revenge at Celestina until she was kidnapped by Celestina to murder her. She and the latter had a cat and gun fight until the boat exploded because of dynamites. She and Celestina survived the explosion but Odessa was tortured and killed by the latter.

As: Celestina. She became the main antagonist of the weekly finale episodes of the series. Celestina kills Odessa then goes to plastic surgery to copy her face and personality to fool the de Alegre family as part of her revenge. She even creates numerous more evil deeds to them until she kidnapped and tortured Mich and Adrian and attempts to murder them two but failed and ended up in jail.

  • Vina Morales as Celestina de Alegre[7] – The main antagonist of the series. Ruthless, scheming, strong, arrogant, and two-faced. Initially having a positive personality but was attemptedly raped in the bar until Virgilio saved her. Ever since that day, she became obsessed with Virgilio, she even stab Harriet with knife and frames Adrian and imprisoned Virgilio in an old abandoned house. She creates havoc and evil schemes to Adrian and Mich's lives. She even committed many robberies until she became a serial homicidal maniac who orders Franco to kill her enemies. She strong as she is able to knock down Virgilio in their fight, this scene was seen in jail scene where she was bullied by the female inmates but was able to fight them. She even fooled Mich into believing that she is her mom, Harriet. Until her crimes was revealed, she eventually planned to escape the island but was stopped by Odessa and two had a cat fight until the boat exploded because of dynamite. Celestina then kills Odessa by torturing her and copies her face and poses as Odessa, she successfully fooled Adrian and the de Alegre family. In the finale episode, she kidnaps Adrian and Mich and tortures them and attempted to murder them but was stopped and ended up in jail.
  • Ara Mina as Amanda Rodriguez / Harriet de Alegre[7] – The protagonist of the series. Mich's real mother who was stabbed by Celestina but survives the incident and suffered amnesia. After several years, she was called Amanda by people and is very rich that's why Celestina eventually befriended her, the two became good friends, until Amanda dreams all the suffering Celestina made at her life and now she is aware at her past and planned to get revenge at Celestina. In the end she attended the wedding of Adrian and Mich.
