Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Blythe Masters has been reverted.
Your edit here to Blythe Masters was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (http://blythemasters.blogspot.com) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. If the external link you inserted or changed was to a blog, forum, free web hosting service, fansite, or similar site (see 'Links to avoid', #11), then please check the information on the external site thoroughly. Note that such sites should probably not be linked to if they contain information that is in violation of the creator's copyright (see Linking to copyrighted works), or they are not written by a recognised, reliable source. Linking to sites that you are involved with is also strongly discouraged (see conflict of interest).
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Winston Churchill

Winston Churchill wiki page doesn't have the details of the bengal famine which was sole responsibility of Winston Churchill. Could you please edit and add the details Thanks John480 (talk) 18:28, 30 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

John, you're right that the page lacks any mention of the Bengal famine. There is some work by Amartya Sen and the recent book by Shashi Tharoor. Are there are other sources you're aware of? Btcgeek (talk) 20:33, 3 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Notification of general sanctions on cryptocurrencies and blockchain

Please read this notification carefully, it contains important information about an administrative situation on Wikipedia. It does not imply any misconduct regarding your own contributions to date.

A community decision has authorised the use of general sanctions for pages related to the blockchain and cryptocurrencies. The details of these sanctions are described here. All pages that are broadly related to these topics are subject to a one revert per twenty-four hours restriction, as described here.

General sanctions is a system of conduct regulation designed to minimise disruption in controversial topic areas. This means uninvolved administrators can impose sanctions for edits relating to these topics that do not adhere to the purpose of Wikipedia, our standards of behaviour, or relevant policies. Administrators may impose sanctions such as editing restrictions, bans, or blocks. An editor can only be sanctioned after he or she has been made aware that general sanctions are in effect. This notification is meant to inform you that sanctions are authorised in these topic areas, which you have been editing. It is only effective if it is logged here. Before continuing to edit pages in these topic areas, please familiarise yourself with the general sanctions system. Don't hesitate to contact me or another editor if you have any questions.

Quick note

On your userpage you wrote I am interested to discuss how Wikipedia should become a neutral and authoritative source on cryptocurrency topics. I find many articles to be either too promotional/overpromising or too short/narrow. I also find it hard to collect good references (and generally seems even trusted sources of news get things wrong with respect to cryptocurrency. That might just get better over time)

Really briefly - WP is vulnerable to online groups that come here and basically hijack pages to promote their group or project. This sort of activity, on the borderline between fandom (what we call WP:ADVOCACY) and actual conflict of interest (see WP:COI) has been a problem for a long time. Generally these people use bad sourcing (blogs, their project's website or forums) or no sourcing at all. As you can imagine, many pages about open source software projects are subject to this stuff.

With the rise of cryptocurrencies, that problem became exacerbated by direct financial conflict of interest and all the hype and financial speculation. In response, the community: a) added "holding a cryptocurrency" to the COI guideline linked above and later b) put the general sanctions in place, of which I have given you notice above.

Content in WP should be driven by high quality, independent sourcing, summarized neutrally, aimed to help people learn (not buy, or buy in). If you like, please see user:Jytdog/How which I wrote to help people get oriented to the mission of the WP editing community, how we work to realize it, and why we do things as we do.

Another important thing here is discussed in WP:SUSTAINED, which is part of the notability guideline. Because WP relies on independent, secondary sources, it is always going to be a "lagging indidicator" -- we don't do "cutting edge" because there are generally not great sources (high quality, independent, secondary) for us to summarize.

Some academics are starting to come out with secondary sources scoping out the crypto industry (some are awful, some are good) and sources like this will allow us to start developing better content in this topic. But there is a ton of work to do just driving out the badly sourced promotional junk, which pours in here relentlessly as online groups try to abuse the visibility of WP to promote their coins or platforms...

Happy to discuss but that is the situation, as I see it anyway....Jytdog (talk) 17:25, 15 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Gary Vaynerchuk

I think the material is too close to the "bady sourced promotional junk" that Jytdog mentions above. --Ronz (talk) 17:29, 20 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
