Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2019 February 28
This is a list of redirects that have been proposed for deletion or other action on February 28, 2019.
Mao Buyi
- Mao Buyi → List of Billboard China Top 100 number-one singles of 2019 (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
I request for deletion of the redirect since it makes no sense to redirect an artist name to a list of number-one singles. There appears to be a corresponding page on Chinese Wikipedia. 210.6.196.245 (talk) 20:45, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
Give Jack a Kong Dong
Redirects to the disambiguation page Jack. An Internet search has zero results. So does not seem a meaningfull search term. And no ambiguity at all. LittleWink (talk) 18:06, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
Lux Haney-Jardine
- Lux Haney-Jardine → Perla Haney-Jardine (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
Not mentioned in the target. Possibly not even the same person. Jalen D. Folf (talk) 02:18, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
Prime Minister of the Commonwealth
- Prime Minister of the Commonwealth → Prime Minister of Australia (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
- Commonwealth Constitution → Constitution of Australia (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
- Constitution of the Commonwealth → Constitution of Australia (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
- Parliament of the Commonwealth → Parliament of Australia (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
These were created by an WP:SPA trying to insert "Commonwealth" in a few Australian related topics, and also left these redirects behind. The problem is that per Commonwealth, Australia is far from the only Commonwealth that has a Parliament, Constitution, and Prime Minister, so these redirects are vague. -- Tavix (talk) 22:13, 19 February 2019 (UTC)
- Delete a quick search reveals results about the Commonwealth of England and Prime Minister of Dominica, alongside other topics. - CHAMPION (talk) (contributions) (logs) 09:48, 20 February 2019 (UTC)
- Retarget Prime Minister of the Commonwealth to Head of the Commonwealth as a plausible search term. Thryduulf (talk) 11:15, 20 February 2019 (UTC)
- Keep the others as Australia's constitution is overwhelmingly the primary topic for those phrases. Hatnotes can be used to point to List of national constitutions and Commonwealth of Nations (and maybe Commonwealth (disambiguation)?) on the constitution article. A hatnote would be needed on the parliament article as well to the various parliaments during the English interregnum (List of Parliaments of England#Parliaments of the Revolution and Commonwealth is possibly the best place to target). Thryduulf (talk) 11:15, 20 February 2019 (UTC)
- That's way too many hatnotes for something this minor, and you haven't even covered all the bases. Constitution of Massachusetts, Constitution of Virginia, Kentucky Constitution, Constitution of Puerto Rico, etc. As for the Prime Minister redirect, why would you want it targeting the Queen? If anything, Commonwealth Chair-in-Office seems to make the most sense since the office is usually a prime minister (or equivalent). Even Commonwealth Secretary-General would make more sense to me. -- Tavix (talk) 14:24, 20 February 2019 (UTC)
- There wouldn't be four hatnotes on one article - there would be 2 or 3 on one, and one on another. While those other Commonwealths exists and do have constitutions, these are not search terms used to find information about them. As for the Prime Minister redirect, Head of the Commonwealth is an article that is about the position not a redirect to Elizabeth II. If you actually read my rationales and do some very basic research you'll find this is actually perfectly logical and matches what people are most likely to be looking for. At RfD we are supposed to use evidence to assist readers in finding the topics they are actually looking for, not hinder them because of our own theories and prejudices. Thryduulf (talk) 14:44, 20 February 2019 (UTC)
- Head of State vs. Head of Government. -- Tavix (talk) 16:04, 20 February 2019 (UTC)
- @Tavix: I don't understand how that relates to this discussion? Someone searching for "Prime Minister of the Commonwealth" is most probably looking for the Head of the Commonwealth so we should redirect the search term to that article. That the person who is presently the head of the Commonwealth is currently also independently head of state of some (but not all) members of the Commonwealth is not relevant to this search term. - Delete all as misleading redirects, except retarget Prime Minister of the Commonwealth to Head of the Commonwealth. Could live with a retarget to Commonwealth of Nations for most. But Australia isn't the Commonwealth, and none of those should point to Australian anything. Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 13:11, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
- Australia isn't the Commonwealth, but it is a commonwealth and it is the primary topic for these terms where they are the formal title. Thryduulf (talk) 13:35, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
Famous architect
- Famous architect → Frank Lloyd Wright (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
WP:XY. Much as I admire his work, he is not the only famous architect. Perhaps retarget to List of architects. 178.164.162.144 (talk) 17:17, 12 February 2019 (UTC)

- Retarget to List of architects per TonyTheTiger. When people search Wikipedia for "famous" in contexts like this then a list of Wikipedia-notable architects is exactly what many of them will actually be wanting. For others, all the famous architects we have articles about (for whatever definition of famous) will be included on that list. Thryduulf (talk) 13:46, 22 February 2019 (UTC)

Southern Arabs
- Southern Arabs → South Arabian (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
As far as I can see, this is a generic phrase meaning simply "Arabs from the south". Which Arabs you would count as southern would therefore depend on where your context happens to be. The range of denotations is too fluid to pinpoint with a dab page or in a definition in an article. – Uanfala (talk) 03:18, 20 February 2019 (UTC)
- Redirect to South Arabia, the historical region where they live. Narky Blert (talk) 17:07, 21 February 2019 (UTC)
- That article makes no mention of them, and it's unlikely it ever will as apparently there's no "them". Again, this is a generic phrase whose meaning will vary, even beyond the limits of Arabia (South or not): I've come across uses where the phrase has been applied to Arabs in Egypt. – Uanfala (talk) 21:15, 21 February 2019 (UTC)
- Delete, Uanfala is right, the term "Southern Arabs" does not refer to South Arabian, or to South Arabia, it refers to "Arabs from the south". --dab (𒁳) 06:38, 22 February 2019 (UTC)
