Well, I seem to be back, though I won't be able to be very active for a while, as pressure of work is too great. Still, two gruelling weeks of interviewing candidates left me in need of something different — and this is it...]

==Cebu_island on deletion review

An editor has asked for a deletion review of Cebu_island. Since you closed the deletion discussion for (or speedy-deleted) this article, your reasons on how or why you did so will be greatly appreciated in the above review. ==

Major Island: Republic of the Philippines You deleted a page that was possibly vandlized, or the en.wiki(ver) was overwriten by a foreign languge version? I might be able to retranslate it back to english if you could send it to me here?

User:mkouklis/Cebu_Island
--Mkouklis 11:35, 17 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I just received a vandalism notice with your name attached to it...but I've never altered anything on Wikipedia before! So I think there's been some kind of mistake.

Quick question

Hi how are you? I have a quick English question for you. When "like" is used in a song title should it be capitalized? As in Man! I Feel like a Woman!. I thought I would ask you because I think you're one of the most knowledgable editors on here. Thanks --Thankyoubaby 16:47, 21 September 2006 (UTC).[reply]

Is Mel Etitis a special case of Editcountitis?

Hey, Mel

It's me. Mothperson. I haven't been here in a year. Do you even remember me? Well, I was just looking at that page we used to discuss a lot, and jeezum crow. I am rather skeptical about some of the inclusions that have sneaked in. Humph. I apologize. I should have had your back. But I am, uh, back, I guess. I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed Wikipedia. So cheers, and I hope you aren't depressed to see Mothperson cocoon again. Mothperson cocoon 19:02, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Publication reference numbers

Can I ask a question of you. I know books generally have a ISBN number by way of a point of reference. Indeed, I have recently (for the first time, since I am a mere novice, of course) used one in the {{cite book}}: Empty citation (help) way of including reference work into a Wiki article. However, today I got given a publication (for free, not a present as such) - "NME Rock 'N' Roll Years" - which whilst looking like a big paperback book, seems to only carry the reference 'CN 5585'. Why is this, and can I still use such a publication as a cited reference work ? Actually, that's two questions, but I know you won't mind. Incidentally I am precisely 52 years old today - are you catching me up yet ?! Regards,

PYPS Deletion

Why wasn't I informed that you were deleting the PYPS article? I worked on some of the history of this from the Presbyterian Church's history..... Just asking about a month later.... Bacl-presby 00:31, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Japhetic

I would like to bring your attention to the article Japhetic. I realize the content at the time of deletion was nonsense, and there was a speedy tag, however, I do know that there was a significant proper article on that page before it was vandalized. Could you please look into this, and if possible, restore the propper content? I was in the middle of a discussion with a friend about the races decended from the sons of Noah, and this deletion leaves a gap in our information. CG janitor 07:31, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"pederastic poets"

Hi Mel Etitis. As you seem to be the moderator of "Jami" page I send you this message. It is clear that we have to avoid the gay lobby to tag whoever they want as a potential pederast or homosexual or homoerotic. As for the persian poets tagged pederast, I as a persian it is the first time I,ve heard about it at 44 years of age. The problem is mainly related to a poor translation (no male and female distinction in persian) and reading beyond the metaphoric language in a mystic writing. With regard to Jami, and Obeid e zakani it is clear that this mistake has been made. So I ask you to remove the tag "pederastic poets" in the end of Jami page, and also if you are able to remove both poets from the page "pederastic poets". I thank you, F Mir 05:23, 11 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My, you have gone missing lately!

But... I don't know anyone else who might be better qualified to see whether things were 'too fast' for a newbie I suspect is trying to add across a languge barrier. Can you take a look at my comments here and let me know (email) whether my nose was too concerned. Best wishes, as always, thanks. It may be time to standin for admin. Not being able to investigate these deleted pages is some motivation! // FrankB 19:34, 12 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dave Mount (Mud) - dead or alive

I know you are old enough to remember Mud. The pop group that is, not what you got your face pushed in when you were young (like me)! Well, I seem to be fighting a losing battle keeping reports of Dave Mount's (Mud's drummer) supposed demise off Wikipedia. I have posted a comment on the band's wiki talk page, but it might not be enough. It appears to arise from comments on a Mud fan's website, which now, conveniently, seems to have crashed. But neither the BBC, nor one of my trusted websites [2], has reported his death. I suspect it is a hoax, but have no definite proof.

See user 217.205.90.120's talk page for recent dialogue. I would not like Wikipedia to look silly over this one. Can you help? Cheers,

Welcome back

Hey Mel, it's really great to see your name on my talk page! I hope you're back to stay. Problems? Oh, just the usual little local difficulties. Nothing I lose beauty sleep over. SlimVirgin (talk) 11:20, 16 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cullen Finnerty - Speedy Delete tag

You must not remove speedy deletion tags, as the template clearly states. Given that the article that you created read (in whole) "Cullen Finnerty, football player." it should have been deleted without pause. If you want to avoid articles being deleted, make sure that they're sufficiently substantial from the beginning. I've added a notability request, as it's not clear that Cullen Finnerty is sufficiently notable; to the untutored eye, at least, he looks like a student sportsman, and thus not terribly notable. --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 21:59, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

As I stated in apology to the user that originally applied the spedy delete tag:
I inadvertently deleted the "speedy delete" / "db-bio", while editing the article which was started by another user, instead of adding a proper "hangon", to Cullen Finnerty's article. We are working on fleshing out the article on this likely NFL prospect, who just lead his college team to a national championship, setting many all-time NCAA records in the process. If you really feel the "speedy delete" is still necessary, while we try to rapidly construct the article, then please feel free. I added reference links on Cullen in the mean time in the External Links section. Just wanted you to know that I wan not trying to be a troll or something working on a non-notable article. --T-dot 21:48, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

(I've left a response on your Talk page.) --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 22:09, 16 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yu-Gi-Oh! articles

The banned user is User:Bobabobabo. Titanicprincess is a sockpuppet.—Ryūlóng (竜龍) 21:53, 17 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

To expand, since Titanicprincess is a sockpuppet of a banned user, the banned user speedy deletion criterion covers the deletion of that and other pages.—Ryūlóng (竜龍) 22:06, 17 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I requested that Raul654 perform a checkuser on a known IP of Bobabobabo. Two usernames came up, one of which was Titanicprincess. I checked the contributions of the user, and confirmed that it was exactly the same pattern of contributions of Bobabobabo, of which all known sockpuppets can be found here. The use of "RV" and an unhealthy focus on Yu-Gi-Oh! That combined with evidence from an e-mail sent to me by the latest user that is exactly the same as an e-mail address of an earlier confirmed sockpuppet. It is all of this that has confirmed it for me.—Ryūlóng (竜龍) 09:37, 18 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestions/Requests

Can you please look at the following article since it seems to be claiming that Quantum Mechanics was inspired by a religious philosophy Vedanta I can edit the article but my voice would probably be drowned in edit wars. -Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.101.79.35 (talkcontribs) 23:29, 18 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion

Hi, Mel. Whoever first wrote it couldn't be bothered to tell what the film was about. It said that it was a 2006 Hong Kong film, had a cast list...that's it. Speedied for a lack of content/context. - Lucky 6.9 23:28, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Whoa...back off. I just left word. You want to get ugly, we'll get ugly. Don't threaten me over a deleted substub. - Lucky 6.9 23:29, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't say it was made in bad faith. I simply said that it lacked a plot synopsis. If someone is going to post a movie article, it helps to tell what the doggone thing is about. Sorry about biting back, but I think I was justified in deleting it since it lacked content. - Lucky 6.9 23:37, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Look...you cme on my talk page with a chip on your shoulder. I roll back any and all comments of that sort since I get them by the truckload on NPP. The original contributor should have written more than he did. I don't want to engage in a war of words over a few keystrokes. This is nuts. Can we please drop it? If the article is up, fine. I won't delete it. Please extend me the equal courtesy of not threatening to run me up the flagpole over such a trivial matter. OK? Friends? - Lucky 6.9 23:40, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You're absolutely right. I'll leave word with the user suggesting that he expand it. We're both in this together; let's not eat each other alive over this. Sorry about my part in this. - Lucky 6.9 23:44, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Information about last chance

Hi, I really don't understand what is wrong with that article. Could You informed me about reason of Your moderating? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.210.128.20 (talk) 15:24, 22 December 2006 (UTC).[reply]

I did intentionally delete the article, but then changed my mind before (I thought) the request had gone through (when I realised that it wasn't worth clicking 3200 odd boxes) and went back to the page. Strange thing is - it was still there when I did a hard refresh - probably needed purging or something. Thanks for spotting it, and reverting! Sorry for the time it took, Martinp23 23:49, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why did you delete this wikipedia entry? Would love to know.. as you have not done it in the appropriate way. Please have the balls to say why it needs a deletion. We have not violated any rules, it was a page created to educate people on why the website was setup, we aren't an organisation. Just a group of students with an idea to give other students a platform to voice their opinion. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ninjadarryl (talkcontribs) 01:22, 23 December 2006 (UTC).[reply]

Ok, I'll ask you again, just because you feel all important deleting little entrys out of Wikipedia, just to screw people around, doesn't mean you should have the right to do that. I have read the rules and did everything in them that would be deemed, note-worthy. I'm guessing your a middleaged man who is either single or divorced, or doesn't speak to his wife much anymore, who has nothing better to do than patrol this website everyday. It is people like you, who are holding back this site into something much bigger. I am starting to believe that this website is a bunch of horse shit, written by other men who are similiar to yourself and if that is the case, then I really don't want to be part of that. From what I have read on the site, you don't sound much of a philosopher. I do know your type, we have them at our University, thinking they know the world and can relate to every little portion of it. Your the sort of person who will have an opinion on everything, thinking himself as always right.

Anyway I could just have a moan at you for a long-time right about now, but I really can't be bothered, forget about the Solent Riot wikipedia entry and if your thinking of deleting me, or whatever, just do it, I'm fed up of people like yourself on this crappy encyclopedia that is supposed to be "written by the world". Bollocks to that!
