Rollback

User:Ahmetlii

I'd like to struggling with vandalism effectively. I experienced about identifying vandalism, and I'd like to struggle with vandalism more effectively. Ahmetlii (talk) 19:39, 9 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Not done Rollback is only given to experienced and competent anti-vandalism workers ~Swarm~ {sting} 02:20, 19 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Swarm: I'm doing it since 6 months. You can check my edits in all wikis.--Ahmetlii (talk) 18:00, 20 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Still not going to be done per the issues raised in the PCR request. I will reply there further. ~Swarm~ {sting} 05:28, 21 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I have been patrolling the Recent Changes page for a bit now, and have been reverting vandalism and other problematic edits made. I believe if I have the rollback permission, I'll be able to fixed vandalism faster than before.  Not done Based on this request, you do not understand the purpose of rollback. See WP:HATCOLLECTING. Anarchyte (talkwork) 04:35, 22 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

User:Chicdat

Hello. First of all, I'd like to say that I don't mean to misuse it in any way. I know that back in May I used rollback in an edit war, and because of that and some violations of WP:EWLO earlier on, I had it and another right revoked. Ever since then, I've cautiously reverted vandalism. I have also collected fifteen times the amount of mainspace edits needed to get rollback, but my track record of editing has made me fine with Twinkle. That is, until yesterday, when HurricaneTracker495 expressed their wanting for me to request rollback.

A note: L235, if you are reviewing this, then review my contributions and my talk page archives, and see how much I've improved.

Thanks, 🐔 Chicdat Bawk to me! 12:03, 22 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

 Request withdrawn 🐔 Chicdat Bawk to me! 11:08, 23 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Chicdat I just had a skim through your last month or so of editing. I'm seeing a lot of editing about hurricanes, but I'm not seeing much in the way of counter vandalism work that would demonstrate a need for the rollback tool. That's not to say that I think you would misuse it, I'm just not sure that you need it - you've got Twinkle to revert occasional vandalism you might come across in your regular editing. Are you intending to jump into using Huggle or similar if given the permission? GirthSummit (blether) 12:23, 22 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
No, I'm not going to go into Huggle. There are enough users who do that already. In truth, my primary reason for requesting was the request on my talk page. I guess all that I really even need for what I do in counter-vandalism is Twinkle. 🐔 Chicdat Bawk to me! 12:27, 22 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
OK, well I'm not opposed to the idea of your having rollback, but I'd want to see a bit more demonstration of your understanding of countervandalism ops in your contribs - doing a bit of RCP for a few days using Twinkle would be sufficient, just so we can see that you know when to leave an edit summary and when rollback could be used. (To be honest though, I very rarely use it myself - Twinkle provides tools which do almost everything that rollback allows, there are just a few specific circumstances where rollback is more useful.) Cheers GirthSummit (blether) 13:45, 22 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I’m the user who suggested chicdat have rollback. I am ok with it if it’s placed on hold, but not if declined and later regranted. Chicdat take the next 24 hours to do anti vandalism fighting and show when rollback is useful and when it’s not. HurricaneTracker495 (talk) 14:16, 22 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Chicdat: I can tell you've been doing good work, and at a glance I see that you've been a lot more careful than you were when we first spoke earlier this year. Cabayi's advice here is still probably the best course of action to take. Now, I don't have objections per se to a grant of rollback, but it actually reflects much better on you if you request only the rights that you know you want to use – it can be flattering and a sign of trust that someone else thinks you should get a right, but you shouldn't actually request it unless you think you're going to use it. Good luck, KevinL (aka L235 · t · c) 21:20, 22 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Chicdat: I agree with L235. Please download Huggle if approved or promise to use the right or you may be declined, which I don't want to see happen. --HurricaneTracker495 (talk) 23:08, 22 November 2020 (UTC)--HurricaneTracker495 (talk) 23:08, 22 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@HurricaneTracker495: The last time I had rollback, I tried to download Huggle – sixteen times. The computer I used was a mess. I think downloading Huggle this time will be much the same, and I don't want to waste a user right like that. It's like an admin who pretends he's not one and doesn't use his tools. I withdraw my request. 🐔 Chicdat Bawk to me! 11:03, 23 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
