Early in the morning of 7 October 2023, approximately 3000 militants,[15][16] from Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, the PFLP, and DFLP,[17] breached the Gaza fence and attacked multiple locations in Southern Israel.[15][16] Following this the IDF blockaded, bombed, and then invaded the Gaza Strip.
