:I am ashamed to admit that my only source for most of these edits are Google Earth. I moused over some of the reefs and shoals (I didn't even know what their names were so I thought they simply collectively fell under the Miskito Cays) and sometimes when you're not zoomed in enough in Google Earth the topography/bathymetry data thing at the bottom right says the reefs/shoals are above water, which is likely why I thought those places actually were above sea level. I apologize for the confusion, and thank you for the correction! I will try my best to be more careful with future edits. ::No worries! I use Google Earth too sometimes, but I'm not sure how accurate the elevation data is. I look for confirmation either in the satellite imagery or some other map source showing there is an island there. --[[User:Lasunncty|Lasunncty]] ([[User talk:Lasunncty|talk]]) 07:23, 9 March 2024 (UTC)

New Discussion

A discussion has been started at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Countries/Lists of countries which could affect the inclusion criteria and title of this and other lists of countries. Editors are invited to participate. Pfainuk talk 12:18, 17 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What about Puerto Rico?

What about Puerto Rico? This is a semi-independent island with such things as its own Olympic Teams and other things separate from the United States.
Furthermore, what about the extreme points of the permanent main body of the United States, which are now in the State of Maine on the east, in the State of Alaska on the west and on the north, Point Barrow, and in the State of Florida on the south.

What about France?

Also, the extreme points of the main body of France - "Metropolitan France" - are also very important.

What about Taiwan (R.O.C,)?

What about Taiwan (R.O.C.)?
Even though Taiwan is not a member of the United Nations, it is still an important country economically and geographically. Also, Taiwan has other important international relationships, such as its own Olympic Teams and a strong defense relationship with the United States.

Iraq

Iraq is missing from this list. Iraq is a country with an easternmost point. 213.89.254.98 (talk) 21:36, 2 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hong Kong, Kosovo, Northern Cyprus are also countries

Hong Kong, Kosovo, Northern Cyprus are also countries according to Wikipedia'a country definition. Therefore, their nonconsensusly-deleted easternmost points must be listed in the table as well:

USA Aleutians

I heard about some Aleutians that cross the IDL. The easternmost is little Semisopochnoi Island, which is at 179'46 E, possibly making the USA 1st on this list! Look at a map to find the Aleutians that are west of the IDL! They technically are. Or look at Semisopochnoi_Island ;) Signed, 76.116.15.169 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:85:C000:F8AA:DD55:6760:4352:BBA4 (talk) 23:57, 16 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Miskito Cays

@UnkownymousWiki: Thank you for your edits. I am however having difficulty verifying the easternmost point of the Miskito Cays for Nicaragua. Do you have a source that shows a cay that far east? I found some reefs as far east as 82°34′W, but they are below sea level. The easternmost above-sea-level point I found is actually Edinburgh Cay (north of the Miskitos) at 82°41′W. --Lasunncty (talk) 08:53, 28 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
