Tiger 3 is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language action thriller film directed by Maneesh Sharma and produced by Aditya Chopra under Yash Raj Films. The film stars Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, and Emraan Hashmi. It is a sequel to Tiger Zinda Hai (2017) and is the fifth installment in the YRF Spy Universe. The film is set after the events of War (2019) and Pathaan (2023).

Principal photography commenced in March 2021 in Delhi. The soundtrack is composed by Pritam while the background score is composed by Tanuj Tiku. The film was made at an estimated budget of 300 crore, making it the most expensive project of Yash Raj Films.[3]

Tiger 3 is scheduled to be released on 12 November 2023, coinciding with Diwali in standard, IMAX, 4DX and other premium formats.[1]

Premise

Following the events of Tiger Zinda Hai, War and Pathaan, Tiger and Zoya are framed as traitors by a revenge seeking terrorist, Aatish who pleged to erase India from the world map, and they go on a life-threatening crusade to clear them and their family's name.[4]

Development

The film was officially announced by Yash Raj Films on 4 March 2022.[9]

Casting

Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif were confirmed to be reprising their roles as Tiger and Zoya from the previous two installments. Emraan Hashmi was signed on as the antagonist in February 2021.[10][11] Ranvir Shorey was confirmed to be reprising his role as Gopi Arya from Ek Tha Tiger.[12] Vishal Jethwa joined the cast in October,[13] while Revathi and Riddhi Dogra were cast in November.[14][15] Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan will reprise their roles as Pathaan and Major Kabir Dhaliwal in cameo appearances.[16][17][18]

Filming

Principal photography began in March 2021, in Delhi and Mumbai.[19][20] Filming additionally took place in Turkey, including Cappadocia and Istanbul.[21][22] A car chase sequence was shot in Saint Petersburg in August.[23] Additional scenes were filmed in Austria in September.[24] Filming resumed in India by February 2022 in New Delhi,[25] while further action sequences were filmed in Mumbai in April 2023.[26][27] Shah Rukh Khan's cameo was filmed within a ten day schedule in Madh Island, where a large set was constructed for an action sequence.[28][29][30] Principal photography concluded in May 2023.[31]

Music

The music of the film is composed by Pritam while the lyrics are written by Irshad Kamil and Amitabh Bhattacharya. The background score is composed by Tanuj Tiku. The first single titled "Leke Prabhu Ka Naam" was released on 23 October 2023.[32] The second single titled "Ruaan" was released on 6 November 2023.[33]

Release

Tiger 3 was initially scheduled to release on 21 April 2023, coinciding with Eid,[34] however the release date was postponed to 11 November (Overseas) & 12 November (India) 2023, coinciding with Diwali.[1]
