Thanks for adding a reference

Thanks for including a reference in this edit. It's good to have a solid reason, so people don't have to argue about what the article should say. --Coppertwig (talk) 02:28, 18 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Converts from Islam to Christianity is included into the category:Former Muslims It is also include into the category:Converts to Christianity. Therfore "Converts from Islam to Christianity" replaces both of the remaining two, because "Convert from Islam" means "Former Muslim". Mukadderat (talk) 15:23, 18 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Logan Sekulow

Hi. I noticed you restored ethnic categories for which no verifiable evidence is apparent to an article on a living person. Per our policy on living people and our policy on verifiability I would ask you to stop doing this please. Such edits are not helpful and contravene our policies. If you continue you are likely to be blocked. Instead, please focus on adding content which is referenced to reliable, third-party sources. Thanks, --John (talk) 15:50, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yemenite Jews

hi Joyson,

How are you ?

I have added the black jews category in Yemenite Jews. I just forgot to log in. I live in Israel. they are black. I've just tryed to correct something that was forgotten in English. see the Hebrew article Cushi Rimon (Shimon Rimon - origiinally)-->[1] (no English) - it says: "He claims his nickname was given to him, because he was a 'Little Yemenite among lots of Ashkenazim' " (or see the article i wrote of what cushi means in Hebrew (the 'cushi' article in Hebrew ---> [2] mentions Cushi rimon, I didnt mention him in the English article of cushi- cinse this man is only known to Israelis).

i'll put it this time under ShaloshSheva.

Have a nice day! --Shevashalosh (talk) 09:16, 22 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Reply of your cooments from my talk page

note the opening statements of the Hebrew article of Ymenite Jew --> [3] -which specifically states that they should be seen as a seperate third Jewish community from AShkenazi and Mizrahi.

and:

and the image of Bo'az Ma'uda, does he look white to you?.

I live in Israel. I know the social conventions (the Hebrew article "cushi" mentions the "cushi Rimon" who was a Yemenite Jew - much earlier then the jewish immigration from Ethiopia - ever existed)

but what is most important is the Hebrew article about Yemenite Jews which states that they are not considered eather Ashkenzi nor Mizrahi (for obvious reasons to a hebrew reader) - but rather a third seperate group.

what do you think?

--Shevashalosh (talk) 13:09, 22 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

reply to your second reply (isn't that fun :-)  ?)

Hi again, Joyson. thanX for your advice. I will take on your advice anf first find a relible source - and only after I will add the addtion category of "category:black jews".

I assume i need also to put the source that i will find in the link you gave me Wikipedia:Reliable sources ?

--Shevashalosh (talk) 14:00, 22 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

another question

i have looked into the English article of Yemenite Jews#DNA testing and read the last paragraph where it talks about the study that "found a possible genetic similarity between 11 Ethiopian Jews and 4 Yemenite Jews who took part in the testing" and that "It is possible that the 4 Yemenite Jews from this study may be descendants of reverse migrants of African origin, who crossed Ethiopia to Yemen." -

and would like to use the reference #27 [4] - as a source - would that be good enough?

--Shevashalosh (talk) 15:12, 22 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

here is a nother possible source which states the folowing: The second scroll will return to the tiny Yemenite community in Ethiopia, consisting of five families, after Simchat Torah.

[5] (from the Jewish Agency for Israel website)

??

--Shevashalosh (talk) 16:08, 22 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

or this :

(its a hebrew article in wiki hebrew containg an english line: [6] Some historians believe that in this period Jews from either Elephantine or Yemen moved into present-day Ethiopia and gave root to the Beta Israel (their reference is this --> [7])

--Shevashalosh (talk) 16:15, 22 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

refering back the reference question to you

Hi again, Joyson.

this tiny issue is taking a bit too long. I was just trying to assit wiki comapred to the Hebrew article of "Yemenite Jews".

he is the thing:

I found two relible sources:

1) NYTimes – (about the ethiopian jews) while anthropologists say they might have migrated from Egypt or Yemen. [8]

2) The Jewish Agency for Israel website: The second scroll will return to the tiny Yemenite community in Ethiopia, consisting of five families, after Simchat Torah [9]

  • Both strengthening the connections of the Yemenite and Ethiopian Jewish communities - which according to historians and anthropologists, The Ethiopians Jews, with a good degree of Probability have descended from the Yemenite Jews who crossed to Ethiopia and started the Ethiopian community.

sorry for your time, I just can't find an answear with Sirmylesnagopaleentheda, and i don't wanna dig in to it too much, there plenty other articles and things to do.

I just need you to confirm me these sources - so we can move on.

??

hi

Kindly research more before adding statements like "Guru Hargobind and Guru Arjan proselytized so actively". Your source [10] cites a number of references but not for this statements. Also read Jahagir's autobiography, where he states that "a large number of ignorent hindus and muslims flocked to him". There is no mention of any proselytization. Infact jahagir mentions that "many a time it occured to me to bring him in assembly of Islam" also Jahangir suspected guru arjan of supporting his rebel son. Thanks

Here is what Jahagir wrote in his biography

"There lived at Goindwal on the bank of the river Biah (Beas) a Hindu named Arjun in the garb of a Pir and Shaikh, so much so that he had by his ways and means captivated the hearts of many simple-minded Hindus, nay, even of foolish and stupid Muslims and he had noised himself as a religious and wordly leader. They called him Guru, and from all directions, fools and fool-worshippers were attracted towards him and expressed full faith in him. For three or four-generations they had kept this shop warm. For a long time the thought had been presenting itself to me that either I should put an end to this false traffic or he should be brought into the fold of Islam.

At last during the days when Khusrau passed along this road, this "insignificant fellow" made up his mind to see him and conveyed preconceived things to him and made on his forehead a fingermark in saffron which in Hindu terminology is called qashqa (teeka) and is considered propitious. When this came to the ears of our Majesty, and I fully knew his heresies, I ordered that he should be brought into my presence and, having handed over his houses, dwelling place, and children to Murtza Khan (Shaikh Farid Bukhari) and having confiscated his property. I ordered that he should be put to death with tortures".

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:WBJ.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 10:12, 14 June 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. J Milburn (talk) 10:12, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Accusations of vandalism

(Replied back on the user's talk page)

Hi Joyson Noel - I just noticed this edit, and I have to suggest that you read up on WP:VANDAL. Vandalism isn't any unconstructive edit, but therefore a "deliberate attempt to compromise the integrity of Wikipedia." I'm not making any comment on the dispute you're having with Celona (though I will if you request a third opinion and John agrees that I'd be a good one to solicit - he and I have worked on the same articles before, with mixed results), but I really think you should assume good faith and lay off the accusations of vandalism towards editors who appear to be working in good faith. Sarcasticidealist (talk) 17:22, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My point is just that he's justifying his edits. I haven't investigated whether the justification is sound or not, but any edit that an editor bothers to defend is hardly likely to be vandalism. Sarcasticidealist (talk) 18:26, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fan Sites

I see you are a big fan of the mafia. Please read the guidelines before just undoing all my edits. Many people post statements and then just list a book as a reference. If it is legitimate, then post the page number. Not just "trust me, it is in there somewhere" Many peoples posts would be better as a fan site where you can just post anything they want. conversions

Check out the discussion page of Islam in Russia

2 millions conversions and the numbers decreasing... by 50 % seems like a fabrications... the sources do not look reliable at all. this article seems to be a little islamophobic tone attached to it... please re-check and unbias it. i have added the neutrality check to this article because it carries a very pessimistic tone of moslems in that country and talks about them as being converting to other religions and a article on religion should not relate to fundamentalist activities of moslems in that country... that is a political tone... not a religious tone. and when you read this article it gives them the impression of being very militant... this seems like it is written by a very islamophobic person for ex: At the same time, the expert accounts for the small number of ethnic Orthodox people who have adopted Islam since 1990, among other things, by the fact that ‘for some reason Russians seem to be more willing to join sects than Islam’. [1] and the sources are so bad... not reliable sources . to me this article seems to promote hatred towards a certain group maybe this is how you seem them in india, but this is clearly a hateful article that needs to be cleaned up Canadian (talk) 16:23, 24 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am not trying to offend you in any way. As you have challenged me to cite a statement that is promoting hate. This article contradicts itself... it is not an essay, but an encyclopedia and the fact that you state the population is rapidly growing and then in the next paragraph states that it will not become a majority state by Viktor Perevedentsev. That inter-fax site is clearly no site to cite in an encyclopedia and it tells the venerability that people of that faith face -- this is clearly not the case. and good for citing, but you have to analyze the sites that you cite are truly fair or not... just because it is on the web doesn't mean that you can cite it in an encyclopedia = bad source. that entire site is islamophobic. not a good source at all!!! you cannot under any circumstances write five paragraphs from one source! i am deleting pages linked that . are they being persecuted -- yes, will they ever change their faiths certainly not... this is the backlash of the media controlled by groups of hate and you happen to believe them... analyze your pieces before your citations.

"Xenophobia is growing very quickly here, and Islamophobia is growing along with it and will continue to, there's no question," said Alexei Malashenko, an expert on Islam in Russia at the Carnegie Moscow Center. according to http://www.turkishdailynews.com.tr/article.php?enewsid=70289 and what makes you think that that article was not written by a islamophobic and reports that come out of that country are also that. wikipedia has a legacy of fairness, truth and let us maintain the integrity of this site instead of of the filth infiltrated in our homes by the clearly hateful media ,,, especially from a country like russia.

that piece of article is clearly phobic and you have just copied and pasted it word for word and then rearranged a few words. Also the people were not traditionally moslem, and after the attacks reverted back to their original faiths. You have stated that islam is political as well as a religion... this is certainly false, because as i have seen many moslem friends tell me, it has nothing to do with politics and is a way of life devoid of anything political. your statement is fundamentally flawed and a person like you make changed to this article with such misconceptions would severely jeopardize the neutrality and the well balancedness of this article. And you call me a culturally oversensitive moral apologist... which is not the case.. here in north america we have a heritage to treat everyone justly and fairly devoid of their cultural backgrounds and a apolosigt... that is certainly a statement all bounds, since when is advocating fairness and deploring racial/ethnic hatred apologetic... as rev. martin luther jr. would have stated "Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity." —Preceding unsigned comment added by Canadian (talkcontribs) 13:56, 25 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sockpuppetry

Hi there, thanks for dropping me a line. From what you've shown me, I can understand your concerns that User:Sdhilio and User:Mynameisstanley are possibly the same person. Looking at their contributions, I agree that there are a large number of similarities between both of their edits (their edit summaries are very similar for one).

I cannot get help from a checkuser to make sure that they are the same person because the accounts have not been used in a disruptive manner. Because of the Privacy Policy, we are not authorized to perform a checkuser unless their has been major disruption caused by the multiple accounts. The only bits of disruption I can see right now is that each has accused Wikipedia of being a fan site, one has responded to a message you sent to the other, and that each has reverted you a few times on various articles.

Right now, I wouldn't worry that they are the same person unless both of them revert your edits more than three times in 24 hours (which would be using multiple accounts to get around the three-revert rule), but I haven't seen this happen yet. If they continue to undo your edits to various articles, or both get involved in an edit war with you, then you can contact me or file a suspected sockpuppet report. As you can see, I cannot take any action yet because they haven't broken any rules or been disruptive. If this does happen at any time in the future, do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you for the heads up, and know that I will keep an eye on their edits also. Malinaccier (talk) 22:57, 25 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Alfieri

Dear Joyson Noel, thank you for your additions in some of the Camorra articles. However, about the reference you inserted in Carmine Alfieri, I must admit I think it is not a very reliable source. I usually do not use any articles by Mike La Sorte, and websites like AmericanMafia.com are generally not considered reliable WP:SPS. For instance, in his article on the Ndrangheta in Gioia Tauro, La Sorte mixes up two different Giuseppe Piromallis. The quote you took maybe right, but if you could find an other source, that would be better. Anyway, this is just to share some thoughts about the reliablity of sources. Thanks and keep up the good work. - Mafia Expert (talk) 13:05, 17 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You are right about Rick Porrello, but La Sorte's work in the relevant field has not been published by reliable third-party publications. I would not trust it. - Mafia Expert (talk) 16:36, 17 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Fratianno.gif. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check
