Mr. P page

Hello Serols, I noticed you restored the section I removed from the Mr. P (singer). I deleted the section because Wikipedia noted that the page "may have been created or edited in return for undisclosed payments" That section of the article looks more like a paid promotion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Palness (talkcontribs) 15:29, 31 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Badge of Shame

Respected Serols. You, are really senior to me, but still I am telling you this. Users can remove content from their talk page at their will, and there is nothing wrong in doing so. You reverted the edit, when the user removed the warning messages. However, that is not right. The warnings are not badges of shame. Plus, they can remove content from their talk page according to the talk page guidelines. So, is it justified in making that edit? Please correct me if I have said something wrong. Thanks and regards. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 10:18, 11 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Itcouldbepossible, I know that he can do that. But sometimes it is necessary because the Huggle program starts from the beginning every time. Help with Huggle

Hey Serols! Since I often see you using HUggle I'd like some help figuring out how to use it myself. I used it a little bit last night, but I had a hard time understanding what I was looking at. One of the things I"d like help with setting up with Huggle is a filter to filter out soem of the good edits and show more bad edits (of course, even with the filter it isn't always bad). ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 14:39, 13 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Our recent contacts at AIV

Hi, Serols. Before I say anything else, I should like to say that it's very unusual for me to find any fault with your reports at AIV. I spend quite a lot of time checking reports which are without merit, but when I see your username I can confidently expect to see a good report. This time, though, I don't agree with you. You linked to this diff, in which you posted on the IP talk page "Hello, that makes no sense -> name = fullname". When I first saw your report, in answer to a post from Girth Summit, you had written "name = fullname is nonsense". I wasted some time checking the last 20 edits from that IP address to try to find one which inserted the text "name = fullname" into an article, before I realised what you meant. I have been a regular Wikipedia editor for over 15 years, and have made over 160,000 edits, and it wasn't by any means obvious to me what you meant. How much more likely is it that it would be unclear to a new editor? It really is important to think how something will look to an inexperienced editor without prior knowledge of what you are referring to, and if there's any reasonable chance that it may not be clear then more explanation is needed. JBW (talk) 21:59, 17 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello JBW, thank you very much for your kind words, I mean that seriously. Unfortunately, I was not aware, that my comment could be incomprehensible. Three months ago there were the same edits, maybe from the same user, and there were no problems understanding them, see here. It would have been clearer if I had written: fullname = name. I'll make sure to answer in more detail in the future. Have a nice day. Regards --Serols (talk) 16:31, 18 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
What JBW said, in every respect - both with regards to the general quality of your AIV reports/patrolling, and this particular issue. I wasn't sure what you meant by that at first, I had to dig through the diffs to work it out. I don't want to give you a hard time - indeed, your indefatigable work in patrolling is one of the unsung pillars of this project, which I don't want to discourage - but that wasn't clearcut vandalism, and a few seconds spent explaining the issue properly would have been worthwhile. Girth Summit (blether) 22:30, 17 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Girth Summit, thank you very much for your kind words, that made me very happy too. I actually never wrote about vandalism, but about disruptive editing, see the user talk page. After four warnings, the Huggle program automatically sends a message to AIV, unfortunately with the text vandalism. But that was never a problem until yesterday. Maybe I should change that in the future. I would also like to thank you for your explanation on the IP talk page. Unfortunately it was in vain, the IP continues today where he/she left off yesterday, see here. But I won't change that anymore. In the future I will answer more detailed. Have a nice day. AIV Report of 37.159.78.94

Hello! I noticed that you reported User:37.159.78.94 for vandalism to WP:AIV. I declined your report because the user was inappropriately warned. Looking at the user's talk page, I see that you gave him 4 warnings (Levels 1-4) in the same minute; all of those warnings took place after the user stopped his vandalism edits. Under our WP:WARNVAND policy, users should be reported to AIV for blocking after they have been sufficiently warned, have the opportunity to notice they have been warned, and continue disruptive behavior despite these warnings. Because all of the warnings took place after the editing stopped, a block would be punitive instead of preventative, which is why I have declined the report. You are welcome to re-report to AIV if the user resumes disruptive activity after being sufficiently warned. --Slon02 (talk) 22:03, 12 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Slon02, the IP made 4 vandalism edits in 2 minutes. The IP got the justified warnings for this from me a minute later. Since it was not foreseeable whether the IP would continue like this, I made the report to AIV. The intention of the IP was only one thing - vandalism. It is therefore incomprehensible to me why an admin protects a vandal and also deletes two justified warnings. Where is the educational effect and why do you need AIV if you don't block the vandals? --Serols (talk) 16:38, 13 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Your response makes me think that you're not understanding the purpose of the blocking policy. The purpose of warnings is not to check off boxes on your way to justify a report to AIV for blocking - it is to inform the editor that what he is doing is against the rules, to inform him of what the rules are and the consequences for non-compliance, and to provide an opportunity to correct behavior. Piling 4 escalating warnings onto a talk page and then submitting an AIV report - all without any disruptive edits taken by the user between them - is an action punitive in its nature, and contrary to the purpose behind the blocking policy. That is why your warnings were not justified: they did not come in response to new vandalism, but were an attempt to punish already-committed acts. If the user had resumed disruptive editing after being properly warned, he would have been blocked; as he did not resume (quite possibly in response to the warnings on his talk page), so he was not blocked. As a result, the blocking policy achieved its purpose, as the vandalism stopped.--Slon02 (talk) 19:15, 13 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Slon02, please also read AIV:
1. The edits of the reported user must be obvious vandalism or obvious spam.
2. Except for egregious cases, the user must have been given enough warning(s) to stop their disruptive behavior.
3. The warning(s) must have been given recently and there must be reasonable grounds to believe the user(s) will further disrupt the site in the immediate

With regard to the part Mr McCaughey and Mr Grew had in their own deaths, the jury found that they had put their lives in danger by being in the vicinity of a stolen car expected to be used in terrorist activity, and by being armed with guns and wearing gloves and balaclavas.

A cup of coffee for you!

I would like to post a link related to the current topic. For some topics I would like to promote my blog links in order to gain knowledge. Stockrani1 (talk) 10:21, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Openly stating the intention of editing to promote one's blog after being told that doing so is likely to lead to being blocked from editing is a pretty effective way of asking to be blocked. I have granted that request. JBW (talk) 10:53, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Why?

I noticed that you deleted the translation from my edit. Does it mean Urdu is not allowed? RSIT1T (talk) 16:26, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello RSIT1T, sorry, I wanted to edit another article, that was a mistake. See here. Regards --Serols (talk) 16:32, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry

The recent edit to Bushmaster XM-15 was made from my device on my phone my sibling stole my phone and decided to make an edit as I was browsing Wikipedia on my phone. Thank you for reverting this. Can I somehow get that IP blocked so that they cant do it again? Thanks and bye. SkyeWolf369 (talk) 16:55, 24 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello SkyeWolf369, one edit is not a big problem. If you want to stop, please ask here. Regards --Serols (talk) 18:37, 24 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I also warned that user about the edits done at Lugnuts user page , but one thing has to be changed that Sherrington should be renamed as Lugnuts .Thank You Motu Patlu and Chhota Bheem Lover 5 (talk) 16:59, 25 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello

Someone's changing the artist's page without his official name.

He removed his Korean name and chose a picture that wasn't good. His haircut when he got out of the army is different from him.

Suggested changing his name to

Jinyoung (entertainer, born 1991)

His name isn't official Jung Jinyoung he is only Jinyoung Since 2011

Because he doesn't use Jung

Even in movies and drama, and new songs his name is only Jinyoung

Jung -Jin-young He never used that name, and why do you make his name so hard with

( - )!

Please add his name to Jinyoung (entertainer, born 1991) So the fans know the difference by birth. Other names.

Please add this picture He's the most famous and well-known.

Thank you Youaree (talk) 15:07, 27 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Youaree, unfortunately this is not so easy, because Wikipedia:Article_titles#Use_commonly_recognizable_names. You have to change the article to the new name. And since I don't know the artist, unfortunately I can't do anything about it. But ask here: Wikipedia:Help desk, Regards --Serols (talk) 16:34, 27 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you!

Hi there! I just wanted to thank you for your quick response to the vandalism of my user and talk pages earlier today. It's the first time (that I can recall) that's ever happened, and I've been in classes since earlier this morning, so I wasn't able to even see it until you'd already dealt with it. I appreciate it! PCN02WPS (talk | contribs) 19:18, 28 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello PCN02WPS, that's a matter of course. Regards --Serols (talk) 16:17, 1 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks!

Thank you for reverting the vandalism to Malawian cuisine. I undid it earlier, but it seems that vandal is persistent. Thank you for undoing his destruction. Malawi and associated topics don't get much attention, so it's sad to see their articles targeted. GhostOfNoMeme (talk) 23:15, 1 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Lordmuggins, please note Wikipedia:Article_titles#Use_commonly_recognizable_names and the edit was without sources. --Serols (talk) 17:48, 4 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It is no longer called Lo'ihi, end of story. 2603:800C:2300:2316:E133:D896:9174:C392 (talk) 07:25, 10 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

MCG

Hello Serols, it is constructive, vandalism was removed. Please check the changes made before commenting on my profile. Someone vandalised the first sentence of the MCG and I changed it back. — Preceding unsigned comment added by SineofTan (talkcontribs) 08:35, 6 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello SineofTan, do not think so, see here. --Serols (talk) 08:39, 6 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The first edit was an error. The second edit undid the vandalism. Do you want me to change it back to the vandalised form? — Preceding unsigned comment added by SineofTan (talkcontribs) 08:53, 6 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
SineofTan, the second edit was ok. Since it was apparently only an oversight on your part with good intentions, I deleted the warning. Regards --Serols (talk) 09:00, 6 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Why have you reversed the edit?

His name is Abdullah Bhatti. I have added proof to the claim too.

MT111222 (talk) 08:47, 6 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hello MT111222, please note artikle name and Wikipedia:Article_titles#Use_commonly_recognizable_names. Regards --Serols (talk) 08:50, 6 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please check these articles and check that they all have "Post town MILTON KEYNES." Please check Post town itself and read there that "Royal Mail states that the post town must be included on all items and should be clearly written in capitals." --79.107.103.33 (talk) 13:38, 7 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello 79.107.103.33, this point was absolutely new to me. For whatever reason, Indian users often use capital letters for whole sentences. In your case it is obviously correct and therefore I have restored your changes. Please excuse my reverts. Regards --Serols (talk) 13:49, 7 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism on List of musical supergroups continues

Vandalism at List of musical supergroups has continued since your last warning on 2A0D:6FC0:1EB4:A100:E574:3C9F:AD9B:CCE8's talk page. Pretty new to Wikipedia editing, so I don't really know how to move forward with that. Just thought I'd let you know so you can take care of it if you think it's necessary. Tolozen (talk) 02:19, 8 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Tolozen, it's been quiet since your last edit, but I'll keep an eye on the site. Regards --Serols (talk) 16:04, 8 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Battle of Mount Tumbledown edit problem

Hi

Why did you think my edit to the Battle of Mount Tumbledown was incorrect? I just added that a pipe tune was composed and played on top of the mountain after the battle. I also included a link to the Band of the Scots Guard page showing the story of the tune.

Cheers

Hughie — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hughiemachrins (talkcontribs) 19:57, 10 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Hughiemachrins, the reason was, that you created a html error with the ref tag. Try it again without the ref (by the source the ref was ok). Regards --Serols (talk) 16:31, 11 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Why you revert? Those images are already in svg and no more work is needed... --2001:B07:6442:8903:89E5:16DD:FFE2:1E8 (talk) 16:59, 16 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello 2001:B07:6442:8903:89E5:16DD:FFE2:1E8, deleting entire sections for no reason and comment is not acceptable. --Serols (talk) 17:43, 16 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Seriously, it is not the entire section deleted, only the useless images… if you check and read, you will notice that the section is still existent! 151.71.42.64 (talk) 18:38, 16 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Graphic request

Wikipedia:Graphics Lab/Illustration workshop contain a section with a lot of images, raster and svg. The question of the user who opened the section, is for conversion request. A lot of those images are in svg and there is not conversion needed. I have attempted to remove images that do not need conversion but my edit is always reverted. Why? It is wrong? --151.71.42.64 (talk) 18:50, 16 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello 151.71.42.64, the answer is here. --Serols (talk) 18:53, 16 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hes Back====$

That persistent disruptive editing has been blocked many times over the years and now he's back with another ip address.. He has to be blocked. Can you please contact Wugapodes or Oshwah. He's well known for this nonsense. Thank you Doriden (talk) 16:23, 25 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Doriden, who is back? --Serols (talk) 16:26, 25 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The ip address that you reverted a little while ago is a persistent disruptive editing person who is blocked on other IP's that he has used in the past. Now he's back doing the same thing. He's known on Wikipedia for this nonsense. Doriden (talk) 16:34, 25 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Doriden, sorry, but without link I can do nothing. --Serols (talk) 16:37, 25 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
