Dendrophilia (paraphilia)

Dendrophilia (or less often arborphilia or dendrophily) literally means "love of trees". The term may sometimes refer to a paraphilia in which people are sexually attracted to or sexually aroused by trees. This may involve sexual contact or veneration as phallic symbols or both.[1] Andrew Marvell made poetry using dendrophilic themes.[2][3]
In 2023, a man was arrested in Salisbury after dozens of people witnessed him removing his clothing and rubbing his genitalia against the stump of a conifer in the Queen Elizabeth Gardens.[4] Although sex with a tree is not itself illegal in the UK, he was taken into custody for indecent exposure and was released on bail pending "enquiries".[5]
