Varchasva

Varchasva is the annual Cultural and Sports Festival of the Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow. It is a three-day festival held in the late September-early October period each year. Over 40000 students participate[1] from 150 colleges across India.[2]

Etymology

Varchasva, from Devnagari वर्चस्व, stands for Dominance, or Absolute Power.[3]

Events

Varchasva features different events from the fields of sports, literature and the performing arts. Events are categorized under the following headings:

  • Sports
  • Music
  • Dance
  • Theatre
  • Literary
  • Miscellaneous

The major events of Varchasva include Jashn – The Fashion Parade, Antarnaad – The Stage Play, Halla Bol - The Street Play, Cricket and Football.

Varchasva 2012

Held from 5–7 October, Varchasva 2012 began Day 1 with Football and other Sports events. Day 2 primarily featured cultural events, and a mix of both on Day 3. Each day concluded with a Special Night, featuring popular music acts and performances.
