Nikunj Malik (born 30 October 1984) is an Indian film actress and TV personality.[1]
Background & personal life
Nikunj hails from a political family. Her mother Shubhlata is an active member of the ruling government BJP's National Executive Council. She is the chief for the State of Delhi- Slum Development.
Her brother Abhigyan singh Malik is a film & television director. He has assisted noted filmmakers like Muzaffar Ali, Shad Ali, Ram Gopal Verma.
Malik is a qualified Fashion Designer. She holds a graduate & a post-graduate degree from India’s pioneer fashion design college, the 'National Institute of Fashion Technology', with a specialisation in Footwear & leather Accessories.
She is recognised by the National Institute of Fashion Technology amongst its top 15 alumni in the history of 35 years of this institute.
She also cleared the CAT Entrance Exams and was offered a place at IIM Ahmedabad for a doctorate. She bagged her first television show around the same time and chose to be an actor instead and moved to Mumbai.
Malik has designed accessories for brands like Tommy Hilfiger, Guess, Lee Cooper, Wills Lifestyle, Geoffrey Beene, Swiss Gear and many more.
Malik practices no-smoking, no-drinking & is a vegetarian.
Career
Malik first rose to fame with her participation in the Indian reality wedding show called Rahul Dulhaniya le Jayega, which was aired on NDTV Imagine on 1 February 2011.[2] She was the most popular contestant of the show and opted out of marriage in the finale.[3]
She acted as the parallel female lead on the Star One show Geet hui sabse parayi as Anvesha a.k.a. Annie, Maan's spoilt baby sister.
She played the negative lead, Maya, in one of the leading shows of star plus – Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai.
She featured on Anil Kapoor's Indian replication of the American series 24.
She has also featured as a guest on various television dramas like Adaalat, Singhasan Battisi, Shapath.
She is also a host and had been hosting the stage shows and red carpets for star performers like Mika Singh, Shaan, Strings and private events.
In sports, she has hosted the Cricket World Cup 2015 and IPL 8 for India News.
She was one of the prominent anchors for season 3 of Star Sports Pro Kabaddi.
Malik also made an appearance on The Kapil Sharma Show.
She has also endorsed the spices brand R-Pure and thermal wear Shera.[4]
Nikunj debuted with Bollywood film Revolver Rani with Kangana Ranaut. She featured in the film The Shaukeens, in a friendly appearance.[5][6]

Controversies
The actress gained controversy when her paternal relatives were arrested for allegedly harassing her mother and threatening to kill her family if she did not quit the entertainment industry.[7] Nikunj claimed that her mother faced physical assault and death threats from her distant paternal relatives ( paternal relatives who were already battling assault, rape & murder charges in a domestic help case ) [2][8]
