Lisbon is a town in Waukesha County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 9,359 at the 2000 census. The unincorporated community of Lake Five is located in the town. The unincorporated community of Colgate is also located partially in the town.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 29.6 square miles (76.6 km²), of which, 29.5 square miles (76.5 km²) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 km²) of it (0.10%) is water.

At the 2000 census there were 9,359 people in 3,218 households, including 2,738 families, in the town. The population density was 316.8 people per square mile (122.3/km²). There were 3,271 housing units at an average density of 110.7 per square mile (42.8/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 98.62% White, 0.21% African American, 0.28% Native American, 0.37% Asian, 0.04% from other races, and 0.47% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.73%.[2]

Of the 3,218 households 40.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 78.9% were married couples living together, 3.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 14.9% were non-families. 12.3% of households were one person and 6.4% were one person aged 65 or older. The average household size was 2.90 and the average family size was 3.17.

The age distribution was 27.7% under the age of 18, 5.9% from 18 to 24, 29.0% from 25 to 44, 26.9% from 45 to 64, and 10.5% 65 or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females, there were 99.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.5 males.

The median household income was $69,012 and the median family income was $75,202. Males had a median income of $51,839 versus $32,362 for females. The per capita income for the town was $26,550. About 0.9% of families and 2.6% of the population were below the poverty line, including 3.2% of those under age 18 and 9.6% of those age 65 or over.
