The 2020 Bodoland Territorial Council election is to be held to elect members to the Bodoland Territorial Council, the autonomous district council for the Bodoland Territorial Region in India. All 40 elected seats in the council will be up for election.

Scheduled date and postponement

The elections were due to be held on 4 April 2020 but were postponed due to the global Covid-19 pandemic. A new date for the elections has not yet been announced. [1]

The term of the current council was due to expire on 27 April 2020. There were two possible options for the council after that date, the term of the current council could be extended by up to six months or the Bodoland Territorial Region could be placed under President's rule by the Governor of Assam. [2] [3] On 27 April 2020, it was announced that Bodoland would come under Governor's rule until a new council is elected. [4] [5]
