The 2020 Nebraska Cornhuskers football team was to represent the University of Nebraska in the 2020 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The team were to be coached by third-yeard head coach Scott Frost and play their games at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, Nebraska as members of the West Division in the Big Ten Conference.[2].
On August 11, 2020, the Big Ten Conference cancelled all fall sports competitions due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The conference expressed the possibility that a season could be played in the spring of 2021.[3]
Previous season
The Cornhuskers finished the 2019 season with a 5–7 and 3–6 record and finished in fifth place for the second year in a row in the Big Ten West Division. Nebraska did not attend a bowl for the third year in a row.[4][5][6]

Schedule
Nebraska had games scheduled against Central Michigan, South Dakota State, and Cincinnati, but cancelled these games on July 9 due to the Big Ten Conference's decision to play a conference-only schedule due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[14].
On August 5, the Big Ten announced a new league schedule to accommodate the new 10-game conference-only season. Michigan State was added as the 10th conference game for the Huskers.[15]
