Alfredo Roberts (March 17, 1965) is an American football coach and former professional tight end in the National Football League (NFL). He is most recently served as the tight ends coach for the Indianapolis Colts. He played for the Kansas City Chiefs and the Dallas Cowboys. He played college football for the University of Miami (FL).

Early years

Roberts attended South Plantation High School. He accepted a scholarship from the University of Miami, where he was a member of two national championship teams. In 1983 under Howard Schnellenberger and in 1987 with Jimmy Johnson.

He was used as a blocking tight end and played on five bowl teams (two Orange Bowls, two Fiesta Bowls and one Sugar Bowl).

Professional career

Kansas City Chiefs

Roberts was selected in the eighth-round (197th overall) of the 1988 NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs.[1] He started 7 games as a rookie and 13 games in 1990.

Dallas Cowboys

In 1991, he was signed in Plan B free agency by the Dallas Cowboys, reuniting with his former University of Miami head coach Jimmy Johnson. He was used as a blocking tight end and was a part of two Super Bowl championship teams.

In 1992, he missed the playoffs because of a right knee injury. In 1993, he was placed on the injured reserve list after fracturing his foot during preseason.[2] On March 31, 1994, he was released after not being able to recover from his previous foot injury.[3]
