Altero Matteoli (born 8 September 1940) is an Italian politician, member of Forza Italia party, and an accountant and executive manager.
Political career
Born in Cecina, he has been a member of Italian Social Movement and thereafter member of National Alliance. Elected as member of Senate of the Republic, from June 2001 to May 2006 he was the Minister of Environment and Minister of Infrastructures and Transport from May 2008 to November 2011. He was also the mayor of Orbetello from 29 May 2006 to 16 May 2011.
