Nor are those terms used period to describe working, load carrying components of cargo vehicles. Full-floating axles are all but unheard of in agricultural equipment and the axle shafts are unable to "float" at all besides the axle shafts in powered "steer axles" essentially identical to front axles in 4WD pickups with the exception that they typically have planetary gear reduction at the "hubs" as well as the ring and pinion.
