Brusque Futebol Clube, usually known just as Brusque, is a football (soccer) club from Brusque, Santa Catarina, Brazil, founded on October 12, 1987.[1] The club competed in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série C in 1988,[2] and competed in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série B in 1989.[3]

History

The club was founded on October 12, 1987,[4] after Paysandu-SC and Carlos Renaux fused.[5]

The club competed in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série C in 1988, being eliminated in the second stage.[2] In 1989, Brusque competed in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série B, when the club was eliminated in the first stage.[3] In 1992, Brusque won the Campeonato Catarinense,[6] and the Copa Santa Catarina for the first time.[7]

In 2008, Brusque won the Copa Santa Catarina for the second time, after beating Joinville in the final.[8] The club also competed in the same season's Recopa Sul-Brasileira,[8] which they won after beating Londrina after a penalty shootout in the semifinals,[9] and defeating Atlético Sorocaba 2–0 in the final.[10]

Stadium

The club usually plays its home games at Estádio Augusto Bauer, which is a stadium located in Brusque, and it has a maximum capacity of 5,000 people.[11]
