CLC (Korean씨엘씨) is a five-member South Korean girl group formed by Cube Entertainment in 2015. CLC is an initialism which stands for CrystaL Clear.[1] CLC made their debut with the release of their EP First Love on March 19.

History

Pre-debut

Thai member Sorn won the first season of K-Pop Star Hunt in 2011, after which she subsequently became a trainee under Cube Entertainment.[2] Yoseob, Seungyeon and Seunghee release a collaborative track called "Perfume" for the first part of the Cube Voice Project. Seungyeon and Seunghee are credited as "Cube Girls" for the track. Seunghee also sang the soundtrack song "Curious" for the drama Plus Nine Boys. The song featured BTOB's Sungjae.[3] She also briefly appeared in BTOB's "Second Confession", "The Winter's Tale" music videos.

The group started gaining attention in 2014 for their non-profit street performances to help children with disabilities.[1][4] The group participated in G.NA's "Secret" music video and acted as backdancers in the stage performances of that song. The group also appeared in BTOB's "Beep Beep" music video.[5]

2015: Debut with First Love, "Eighteen", Question

On December 8, 2014 Cube announced that they would debut a multi-national girl group next year and announced that one of the members of the group was Sorn.[6] It was announced that the title track was called Pepe and that they would debut March 19.[7] The first time the group revealed the title track Pepe and EP track First Love was at their debut showcase on March 18 at the Acts Hotel in Seoul.[8][9] The music video and album First Love were released March 19 and they debuted the same day on Mnet's M! Countdown music show.[10] Labelmate Rain choreographed part of the choreography for Pepe.[11]

CLC released "Eighteen" on April 16 and held their comeback stage on the 17th at KBS's Music Bank.[12][13]

CLC made their comeback with their 2nd mini-album Question on May 28.[14] "Hide & Seek," the fourth track of the album, was composed by Ilhoon of BTOB. CLC held their comeback stage on the 28th at Mnet's M! Countdown.
