Dan Tel Aviv Hotel |
The Dan Tel Aviv Hotel is a luxury hotel in Tel Aviv. The Dan Tel Aviv has a 5-star rating and is considered one of the best luxury hotels in Tel Aviv by the Five Star Alliance.[1] According to TIME, it is the “closest Tel Aviv has to a hotel grand dame”.[2] It was the first luxury hotel in Tel Aviv and the first of the Dan Hotels chain.[3]
The Dan Tel Aviv Hotel is located on Tel Aviv's Seafront overlooking the Mediterranean. It is within walking distance of many of the city’s most popular attractions, including the most popular tourist attraction in Tel Aviv, the Tel Aviv Port[4] and the Old City of Jaffa. Notable guests have included Bill and Hillary Clinton Paul McCartney, Michael Jackson, Madonna, The Rolling Stones, U2, and Lady Gaga.[3]
History
The original building was built in the 1930s, and started off as a small pension called Kaete Dan. It was the first lodging of any kind on the beach in Tel Aviv. For a time it served as the headquarters of Haganah. In June 1947, Yekutiel and Shmuel Federmann bought the building, and adopting the name from the previous owner, they formed the Dan Hotels Corporation.[5] The new owners demolished the original building, and the new hotel was completed in 1953, becoming the city's first luxury hotel.[3]
In 1986 a new, colourful facade was added, in the colours of the rainbow, and designed by Yaacov Agam.[2] In 1994 the King David Tower (height 82 meters) was built, adjoining the south of the hotel. In 2000 the hotel underwent a complete renovation.
Amenities
Dan Tel Aviv Hotel’s facilities include the gourmet kosher Restaurant Hayarkon 99 (chef Oved Alfia), the kosher dairy restaurant D-restaurant, Yam breakfast and the Dan Hotel Bar.[6] Dan Tel Aviv Hotel has a sports and spa facility with indoor and outdoor seawater swimming pools available to hotel guests.[7] Like all Dan Hotels, Dan Tel Aviv Hotel offers the acclaimed Dan Hotel Kid’s Club “Danyland” for children during holidays.[8]
All 286 rooms are equipped with wi-fi and iPod connections. There are three seafront suites with private balconies, and Sea View Executive Rooms with prime Mediterranean views.[2]
