Dance Evolution (known as DanceMasters in North America) is a dancing video game developed by the makers of the Dance Dance Revolution series. The game was officially unveiled at Konami's E3 2010 press conference, exclusively for Xbox 360 Kinect.[1] The game was released in November 2010. When describing the game, Naoki Maeda, the producer of Dance Evolution and of the Dance Dance Revolution series, stated that "this is real dancing."
Dance Evolution has 30 tracks, including hip hop, R&B, pop, eurobeat and dance, and will be supported with additional songs as downloadable content.
An arcade port, titled Dance Evolution ARCADE, was released on March 27, 2012 in Japan. Although the gameplay remains the same, it has several features that differentiate it with the original version. A spin-off, Rhythm Party (called BOOM BOOM DANCE in Japan) was released on February 1, 2012.
Gameplay
Gameplay requires the player to copy the on-screen character's dance while hitting certain spots (namely RIPPLES) with their hands, drawing lines in the air (namely STREAMS), stepping on the beat and striking poses (much like a full-body version of Elite Beat Agents). Only hitting the on-screen markers counts toward your grade (unlike Dance Central, which demands full-body move matching). There is a lesson mode that explains the basic mechanics and the main dance mode. Offline games support 2 players simultaneously and online modes support up to 4 players. There are four difficulties (LIGHT, STANDARD, EXTREME, MASTER) with MASTER only being present on downloadable contents. There is also STEALTH mode, which is EXTREME mode with the markers being off.[2]
It should be noted that the official para para routines for the eurobeat/Konami original songs were used for their respective songs.

Dance Evolution ARCADE
The arcade version, Dance Evolution ARCADE was released on March 27, 2012. Several features are added:
- A new level-up unlocking system, called CLASS system. Players collect GOLD through playing and if collected enough, the player levels up. Leveling up CLASS is required to unlock certain features.
- The five difficulties; LIGHT, STANDARD, EXTREME, MASTER, and STEALTH remains, although MASTER and STEALTH difficulties are locked by default and must be unlocked through the level up system. Several LIGHT difficulties on certain songs are given a wakaba mark, indicating those as beginner level songs.
- The game no longer display the song genres, unlike the console version.
- The song selection now switch to Cover Flow design.
Music
This is the soundtrack for the arcade version. Some of the LIGHT difficulties on certain songs are given a wakaba mark, which indicates its status as a beginner level song.

Dance Evolution had mixed reviews, holding a score of 63 out of 100 based on 30 reviews at review aggregator MetaCritic.[4]
