Declan Cross (born July 25, 1993) is a professional Canadian football fullback for the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He was drafted in the fourth round, 27th overall, by the Argonauts and signed with the team on May 19, 2016.[1][2] He played Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) football with the McMaster Marauders.
Professional career
After being drafted by the Argonauts, Cross made the active roster after the conclusion of training camp and dressed for all 18 games of the 2016 Toronto Argonauts season.[3] He made his first career reception in the Labour Day Classic against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on September 5, 2016. Following the hiring of Marc Trestman as head coach for the 2017 season, Cross gained a more prominent role in the offense. He scored his first career touchdown on July 24, 2017 on a three-yard pass from Ricky Ray in a game against the Ottawa Redblacks.[4] For the regular season, he recorded 36 catches for 366 yards and five touchdowns. He won his first Grey Cup championship in the 105th Grey Cup game where he had five catches for 36 yards and a pair of two-point conversion scores.[5] During the following off-season, on December 21, 2017, he signed a contract extension with the Argonauts through to the 2020 CFL season.[6]
