Deepender Singh Hooda (born 4 January 1978)[1] has twice served as a member of parliament in India, where he represents the Indian National Congress from the Rohtak constituency in Haryana. He is the third generation of his family to hold such a position: Bhupinder Singh Hooda is his father, while his grandfather, Ranbir Singh Hooda, was a freedom fighter, a member of the Constituent Assembly and Minister in Punjab (when Haryana was part of Punjab).

Education

Deepender Hooda holds a Bachelor of Technology and Master of Business Administration qualifications and was educated at Technological Institute of Textile & Sciences, Bhiwani Maharishi Dayanand University in Rohtak and Indiana University, Bloomington respectively.[1] He attended school at Mayo College, Ajmer.[2]

Personal life

In February 2010, Hooda married Sweta Mirdha, a granddaughter of a former leader of the INC in Rajasthan, Nathuram Mirdha. Her older sister, Jyoti Mirdha, is a Congress MP for Nagaur, Rajasthan. He had divorced Geeta Grewal in 2005.[3]
