Burt Fabelman is a fictional character and a supporting protagonist in Steven Spielberg's 2022 semi-autobiographical film The Fabelmans, which Spielberg co-wrote with Tony Kushner. A computer engineer who is the husband of pianist Mitzi Fabelman (Michelle Williams) and the down-to-earth, but caring father of the main character Sammy Fabelman (Gabriel LaBelle) and his sisters, he is loosely based on Spielberg's father Arnold Spielberg and was portrayed in the film by Paul Dano, who received a nomination for the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role for his performance.[1]
