Molly Brown is an American actress who is best known for her starring role as Debra Morgan in the Showtime series Dexter: Original Sin.[1]

She is also known for her reoccurring role in the Showtime American drama television series Billions, in which she plays the role of Elizabeth Prince [2]. Brown is also known for her reoccurring role as Leslie in the CBS/Paramount+ supernatural drama series Evil.[3] She has also appeared in films including Senior Year, Lost Girls, and The Good House. In addition to Dexter: Original Sin, Billions, and Evil, her television credits include High Maintenance, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Conviction, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Chicago Med, and FBI: International.

Brown was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa [4] to Sara Riley.

Career

Brown's first major role came in 2016 when she appeared in the role of Emily Price in the ABC American legal drama television series Conviction. After her role in Conviction, Brown's next major role came in 2018 when she appeared as Maddy in the HBO hit American television series High Maintenance. In High Maintenance, Brown played the role of a college student who is overburdened by a domineering mother. In 2018 Brown also guest starred as Jenni Hanson in the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit playing the role of a high school student whose close friend goes missing. In 2018, Brown appeared in Amazon Prime Video's American period comedy-drama television series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel as Leah, a possible love interest for Michael Zegen's character Joel Maisel.

Brown's first role in film came in 2020 when she appeared in the role of Missy in the American mystery drama film Lost Girls which was directed by Liz Garbus. The film revolves around the murders of young female sex workers on the South Shore barrier islands of Long Island, committed by the Long Island serial killer, who remains unidentified. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on January 28, 2020, and was later released on March 13, 2020, by Netflix. Also in 2020, Brown voiced a national campaign for American Express's Delta Airlines Platinum American Express card [5]. The advertisement aired during Super Bowl LIV and the 92nd Academy Awards. In 2020 Brown returned to television guest starring in the role of Molly Myers in the NBC medical drama Chicago Med.

In 2021 Brown received her first re-occurring television role as Elizabeth Prince in the Showtime American drama television series Billions. Elizabeth Prince is the daughter of billionaire Michael Prince played by Corey Stoll. Brown's character often buttheads with Stoll's character as the two struggle in the fast pace and high intensity American financial market. Also in 2021, Brown appeared in The Good House as Emily Good. In this role Brown played the daughter of Sigourney Weaver's character Hildy Good. The Good House premiered as a Gala Presentation at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2021 [6]. The film is also set to appear 2022 Tribeca Film Festival[7]. Also in 2021, Brown appeared as Ella Clancy in the CBS American crime television FBI: International. In 2021, Brown also appeared in a national campaign for Verizon.

In addition to her continuing work on Billions, in 2022 Brown appeared as Young Martha Reiser in Rebel Wilson's Senior Year.

In 2022, Brown landed another reoccurring role as Leslie in the CBS/Paramount+ supernatural drama series Evil.[8]

In 2024 Brown landed her breakthrough role as Debra Morgan in the Showtime series Dexter: Original Sin.[9] Brown was in Paris attending a Taylor Swift concert when she got the call from her agent that she booked the role. [10]. After getting the role, Brown moved out the Los Angeles. The show is set to air in December 2024. In an interview, Brown indicated that while fans already knew some of Dexter's backstory, the show might surprise fans. [11] Brown also indicated that the groundwork set by Jennifer Carpenter made it easier to step into the shoes of Debra Morgan as Carpenter already showed the audience exactly who Debra Morgan is as a character. [12]
